Birth, death, illness, new job, vacation...if it's happening to you and you want us to know about it, post it here. These threads are intended for announcements only. Want to offer sympathy or congratulations, or talk about anything? Take it to Natter. Any natter here will be deleted.
If everything goes very well, next week I'll be in Massachusetts with Reema, who is, if I didn't mention it to you in all-capital letters, the girl I'm in love with.
I'm not sure that there exists getting-parents-who-five-minutes-ago-said-yes-and- now-say-no-to-change-their-minds-back-again -ma, but if there is any, the Buffistas can wield it; so if you can spare any, please send that our way.
Meep.
Back on Cable Modem.
I got a month credit, so I guess that means if I don't pay, I'll lose it again in a month.
Hmmm... what can I sell on eBay.....
Got a job interview Monday afternoon.
Wish me -ma!
I am going to be pale black for the next week or so. DH and I are finally taking our oft-postponed and long awaited vacation to Florida. Home! Yay!
Wishes of non-stupid drivers on the roads and general kitty health are appreciated.
One of the partners in my lawfirm was made a judge. His secretary has been given my attorneys.
The secretary who left earlier this week was half sec/half office assistant. She made about 10k less than me.
I've been laid off.
I walked the two blocks from my office to that of darling Tom Scola and, quite literally, cried on his shoulder-- thanks Tom. Atkins has been called off for the moment, I have a bottle of frozen vodka in one hand and a popsicle in the other. My sister is coming into the city tonight to take me out. I may be lurkish for a while, I don't know. For now the Great Midwestern Buffista and Ice Cream Tour is cancelled. I guess I won't be going to see
Air Supply
at the Westbury Music fair but that was dorky anyway. Notes, chocolate death-bombs and offers to make sweet, sweet love to me gladly accepted.
In GOOD news, I got big-ass promotion today! I applied for this job seven weeks ago and was sure they were giving it to the other in-house applicant, who is 2 years younger than me and very sweet and kinda dim--but a demon-fast captioner--but, surprisingly, no. I get a big enough raise that I get to quit my other job, thus adding many more hours free to my week, and I do less captioning, which should make my arms quit aching. I am VERY pleased.
I'm management now, baby!
My already darkish grey is going inky until I figure out what this new icon is on my PC here at work.
If any Buffista knows what a "Remote Management" icon is for, please email me at my profile addy.
I think they're watching me.
On my way out the door for my job interview! Wish me luck!
At 6:00pm this evening, I will be interviewed by the co-op board of the building where I'm attempting to purchase an apartment. This is a ritual that is common in New York, but mostly unknown in the rest of the country.
Please send me co-op-ma, calm-ma, good-neighbor-ma and any other kind of -ma you can spare.
