Mr. Scola’s wardrobe by Botany 500

At 6:00pm this evening, I will be interviewed by the co-op board of the building where I'm attempting to purchase an apartment. This is a ritual that is common in New York, but mostly unknown in the rest of the country.

Please send me co-op-ma, calm-ma, good-neighbor-ma and any other kind of -ma you can spare.

I'm going to Sydney to see my sister in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and to visit friends. Back Sunday. Likely to be mostly dark until then.

Herding cats for fun

Going dark for two weeks of vacation featuring outdoor recreation. If the weather cooperates (no afternoon thunderstorms), I get to go inner tubing down the Colorado River. Whee!

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

OK. Need BIG TIME positive vibes.

There has been a major development with the magazine I've been working to launch.

Tomorrow I have to talk to someone who may be able to launch it.

That's all I can say. But if anyone's got any vibes, I can definitely use 'em.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

My grandma is very ill. We are going to L.A. to visit her tomorrow because I think waiting until Friday will be too late. She is dying of kidney failure and will likely go into a coma soon. I am grateful that I get a chance to say goodbye. Thoughts and prayers are appreciated. And the support and everything I already have from you has been wonderful. Thank you...

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Enters quietly and puts the jobma back where it belongs, fully recharged and...effulgent.

I got the job. I start Monday.

Thanks for the Ma.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Do NOT read the Harry Potter article in The Onion if you wish to remain spoiler pure.

(If this isn't apocalyptic, I don't know what is.)

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

(Actually, it's a joke. The article contains no actual spoilers.)

You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.

Any Buffista prayers, kind thoughts, or wishes for a good time in the Summerland and a better Turn of the Wheel next time would be welcome today: a friend of DH's and mine, Trevor, was found dead on Monday from an overdose of antidepressants.

Not at my most coherent today; sorry.

My DH didn't get to the second round of interviews. Here's to better luck with the jobma next time. EDIT: And thanks for what you sent. It was his best news in a year or so, and I think you guys helped.
