If the Apocalypse Comes, Beep Me
Birth, death, illness, new job, vacation...if it's happening to you and you want us to know about it, post it here. These threads are intended for announcements only. Want to offer sympathy or congratulations, or talk about anything? Take it to Natter. Any natter here will be deleted.
This isn't personal except that it's about someone I ME MYSELF adore and assume many of you do, too!
But our Sox won a major literary award this weekend - the (Nebula Award) Andre Norton Award for Young Adult Science Fiction and Fantasy for Updraft!
I am so proud of her and happy for her!

Hey Y'all - have you moved recently? Do you like surprise gifties?
If so, please send your information to Msbelle or me and we can update the Buffistas database.
And yes, I have received a few requests recently for folks who aren't on the list. I know you don't know who you are but you might be missing out if you aren't included.
Please send us (any or all of the following) - your username, full name, e-mail address, street address, birthday (year not needed), phone number, emergency contact name/phone, and any other notes. We will assume that by providing this information, it is ok to share with other buffistas unless otherwise noted.
Please, please, please, all the patented Buffista ~ma, thoughts, prayers, and vibes you can spare towards southeast Michigan. My mother is in the ER with atrial fibrillation.
I'm not ready for this.
We're pitching out product to Marvel Comics CEO today. (Not me personally - I'm here in SF.)
Send us some vibes, por favor.
One of the best-hearted people I know, the kind of guy who would throw himself on the grenade for a person, doesn't have a lot longer left in this world. His sister has put up a go fund me to help with the costs that will be coming to them. [link]
If you have a few bucks you could throw there and/or a Twitter or Tumblr or Facebook to share the link on, it would mean a lot. I have known this guy since high school, and if you have ever heard me muse about the difference between extraordinary and accomplished, Terry's the guy who made me think about it, 'cause he's pretty effing extraordinary.
Non-specific ~ma through tomorrow, pls?
Releasing the ~ma; all is well. Thank you.
Could I get some of that ~ma for my friend Terry? He's hanging in there and his condition has improved enough that he's got a chance so there's a lot of hoping and praying going around. He was awake and aware today when one of our friends talked to him and I'm just hoping for the best right now.
Hi everyone! I'm starting the 8-weeks-out run up to Cloudbound soon, plus the 6-weeks-out run to the Updraft paperback. If you're a library requester (ILU), a book-pusher (ILU), a pre-orderer (ILUUUU), or generally like free stuff (ILU2!), keep an eye out. There will be a bunch of that, some preview chances, plus an amazing thing Raq and I are working on. If you see me on your media feeds, and feel like boosting, I will not only share my undying gratitude, but also will save some swag for you when next our paths cross.
My friend Terry passed away this morning at 42. He'd battled heart problems and diabetes for years and his body just wore out.
Thanks for thinking of him, guys, and if you could keep his family in your thoughts, that would be amazing.
I posted this on FB, from one of my locked LJ/DW posts, but this is the person he was: "He's always thinking about and looking out for other people. He's genuinely kind, even with everything life has thrown at him and continues to throw at him, and god knows, he deserves a break from it."
He's no longer in pain and even if he'd made it through this crisis, his quality of life wouldn't have been good. That said, I wish he were still with us, at least for a little while.
