Can I ask for general -ma, which I don't usually do, but my undergrad prof, who opened my eyes to all kinds of things, who was kind and generous -- he was friends with students, and a mentor. His house parties and dinner parties varied, but often humanities profs would come and...it was important, formative, and a great many of my friends are friends with him still and we are very fond of him.
He's in the ER and it's "very very serious" according to my friend who teaches with him at our undergrad school. And K isn't prone to panic.
ETA: He died of a massive heart attack about an hour ago. Thanks for the good thoughts.
So-- health-ma in the northwestern Missouri area? I would be so very sad if he passed. Thanks.
Can someone give me some info or point me to info on a drug called Effexor?
This was prescribed to me, but I had a very bad reaction to a drug called Wellbutrin, so I'm wary about trying new drugs without some exhaustive research.
I need to get something, soon, I just need to make sure that I'm clear on possible side effects. I have had good experiences with SSRIs, they just stop working after time.
I'm trying, here.
What with the whole losing my job thing, I forgot to mention the way cool fact that Best Western is running a commercial on USA this month which is all about my DH! Here's a link to it, if you don't want to watch USA all day waiting for it to show up. [link]
For those who want an update:
My mother was released from the hospital Tuesday. Three weeks after Open Heart surgery.
She is recovering for a few weeks at my niece's house.
I have a cold, so I'm not stopping by, but I called her today and she sounded good, and in good spirits.
Her stubbornness, plus medical technology and surgery skills for the win.

I have a second interview today (via Skype from Holland) with Sony. Lots of job~ma at 9:00am PST, please!
So, I'm telling my Buffistas before almost anyone else, because you all are the family of my heart:
Someone is going to have to suit up as Batman and marry me, because Tim proposed tonight.
(I said yes.)
(It was the only way I get to keep the ring. It's so shiny!!!)
This is going in Beep Me b/c I am too tired for Natter. I made it to Dublin! Anyone following my travel saga will not be surprised that when I arrived at Heathrow there was no booking for me on the flight. Fortunately, the nice BA man sorted it out for me and I am here!
I have a new piece up at Hilobrow as part of my (renewed) series on Early Sixties Horror.
This time I wrote about The Innocents (1961) starring Deborah Kerr. It's still the definitive adaptation of Turn of the Screw.
Please check it out and give it an FB like if you're inclined.
Favor to ask. My friends' bar is two years old today. They are giving away a trip to Vegas for the picture from the anniversary that gets the most FB likes. It's a public pic on my sister's page. Can those of y'all who Facebook help a sister out?
