I have a new piece up at Hilobrow as part of my (renewed) series on Early Sixties Horror.
This time I wrote about The Innocents (1961) starring Deborah Kerr. It's still the definitive adaptation of Turn of the Screw.
Please check it out and give it an FB like if you're inclined.
Favor to ask. My friends' bar is two years old today. They are giving away a trip to Vegas for the picture from the anniversary that gets the most FB likes. It's a public pic on my sister's page. Can those of y'all who Facebook help a sister out?

Happy news!
Nilly gave birth to her baby girl this morning (it's afternoon now in Israel). All are well, and very happy. That's all I have for now.
SFistas! My friend Stephen the personal chef is doing a pop up restaurant in the bar Truck at 1900 Folsom. He's doing high class French Style bar food. Last I heard, the menu would include:
Pork Rilletes with Walnut Bread, Mustard and Cornichon – Pork braised in its own fat and wine served with crunchy walnut toast points, whole grain mustard and sweet pickles
Boules de Bouef avec Pommes de Terre – Savory beef meatballs in a Port Wine Gravy over Steamed Herbed Potatoes
Crudite et Fromage – Seasonal Vegetables with Romanesco Sauce, Basil Aioli and Garlic Crostini with Local Cheeses
Gratin Dauphinoise with Creme Fraiche Lorraine – Potatoes roasted in cream and garlic topped with a thickened cream, caramelized onions and house cured bacon
Croque Monsiuer – Toasted Ham & Gruyere Cheese Sandwich Topped with a Creamy Bechamel Sauce served with pomme frittes
Burger de Porc: Hamburger of ground pork, ground bacon and herbs served with pomme frittes
Request for Emergency ~ma. My BFF's husband just got rushed into surgery for a brain bleed. It was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago, and the Drs were convinced it would just reabsorb on its own, but he's been having worse and worse pain, so I guess they've decided to take action. Please send safe surgery~ma for B, and calm and strength to K while she waits.
SFistas (Lee in particular), I was wrong about the date of my friend's popup restaurant. It's MARCH 27, not February. So, you have time to get a group together.

I am behind on B.org for various reasons...but if any of you want to reply to Jonathan Kaufer on my Facebook page (his long comment on my link to the "I am not a wife, sister, or daughter" post, go right ahead! (In case you wanted to reply but weren't sure how I felt about your doing so.)
