"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Can I request some surgery~ma for my mother early tomorrow morning? She's having her gallbladder removed.

My father wrote the first critical filmography book about Sydney Pollack in 1981, and the two became friends. I just found out that Pollack died of cancer today. I know my father is going to be devastated that he hasn't seen Pollack in years and never got a chance to say goodbye. I raise a glass to Pollack for being an amazing Hollywood director, producer, actor, and all around nice guy--and, more importantly for me--a friend to my dad.

He died too soon and will be missed.

My (new) company had layoffs today.

Thankfully, this time, I *didn't* get laid off. Though I must admit, my coworker was pretty surprised at how accurately I called the signs, after I was saying I didn't like the looks of this mysterious last minute all hands meeting without an agenda...

Can someone notify the universe that although I was laughing, it really wasn't a *funny* joke?

For those of you who follow Bitches, you may recall about a month ago, my head exploding with super secret information. Well, it has come to the point where things are public now.

The first bit of news back then was my favorite of favorite bosses was leaving.

The second part was even more super secret. This morning I distributed a letter of resignation from my job of 11 years. This is because last night, I got confirmation that I am hired for a new job. It seems I am following my favorite of favorite bosses.

The sad part is, I am leaving some of the best friends I have ever had to move to Dallas, TX. Not that I loose these friends, it just makes it a LOT harder to hang out with them.

The next few weeks will be a crazy time as I pack up 11 years of life and move to a new city where I know nobody but my boss. Wish me luck!

Health-ma for my mother on Thursday, if you please. She's having minor outpatient surgery, which is not a big deal per se, but at 93, even though she is hale and hearty, the tipping point is a little more precarious. Thanks.

I have a good friend who will be in Chicago July 26/27 and is looking for a babysitter for his son both nights (about 2 yrs old). If you know of anyone who might be willing, or have another idea, my profile addy is good.

I am requesting some healthy kitty-ma for Pico. He's food averse for the last three weeks, and at his last visit, all his tests were negative. He seemed to be slowly getting better, to the point where he was seeking out food on his own. But then he started backsliding on the weekend and is back to not eating and hiding. So it's back to the vet we go.

Here's to hoping that neither me nor kitty freak out during the vet visit.
