No. You're missing the point. The design of the thing is functional. The plan is not to shoot you. The plan is to get the girl. If there's no girl, then the plan, well, is like the room.

I am notorious for whitefonting when I needn't and not, when I should. What's the policy for aired bits here?

In theory there's no need to whitefont shows here that have aired in the UK.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

I'll whitefont it because it's about the ending. bonny, when Sherlock said "You're wasted as a cabbie" I snapped at the TV, "He's done the knowledge. He's brainier than you." (My Girl is a Knowledge Girl.)

Seska, I am in awe of the Knowledge and, therefore, of your girl.

This week's Sherlock was too predictable, but I enjoyed it anyway.

Loving Mrs. Hudson.

I sort of enjoyed it, but didn't like the way they were careless with Sherlock's character. He wasn't really a high-functioning sociopath this time, he was much more house-tamed. Last week, he comments ineptly on morgue-girl's lipstick without a clue that it might have been applied for him. This week, he is not only aware that she has a crush on him, he uses that knowledge to manipulate her into giving him something he wants. He adeptly imitates people and is mostly sensitive to Watson's beginning romance. I liked last week's Sherlock better. I'm putting it down to sloppy writing (not Moffat or Gatiss).

And I feel safer whitefonting.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Yeah, I agree that this week's wasn't as well-written. Also, not the most culturally sensitive episode ever.

Dana, no kidding! I've seen much worse, but that aspect wasn't good.

And Fiona, I totally and completely agree about the shift in Sherlock's personality. Last week, he was delightfully cringe-worthy. This week, his asking for a pen just seemed jerky, rather than quirky .

I do like Watson being less hang-dog though and the addition of the potential love interest was welcome. She's as smart as the fellows and a quite good foil.

Dana, I attributed that aspect to being a leftover from the original stories. It was all a bit Victorian.

Sure, and I think that was especially obvious with the fight scene at the very beginning. But if I had my choice of what they were going to take from the original stories, it wouldn't be that part.

Steven Moffat writes in the Guardian about his favourite Moriartys (or should that be Moriarties?):

Non-spoilery.

Also, an article about the updated Sherlock in general here:

They're certainly building it up....
