I'm going to be travelling later this month. I'll be in:
Amsterdam from 21 August to 24 August,
Oslo from 25 August to 27 August, and
London from 28 August to 02 September
...and I'm thinking seriously about taking the train from London to Paris for a day-trip, probably on the 31st.
Anyone in the area interested in meeting F2F?
Have fun, dcp!
Sherlock
last night was pretty impressive. I liked
Moriarty
a lot. Didn't know the actor at all, but he was very good.
That trip sounds amazing, dcp. I'm potentially around on the 1st and 2nd of Sept. 2nd is better, as I'll have just come back from my big festival camping trip of the year, so might need to shower and sleep on the 1st.
dcp, I'm actually going to be in Boston from late August until the 5th of September, so I won't be around! Sorry! Thoroughly wonky timing.
Sherlock - Fiona, I loved
Moriarty too. I recognise the actor's face, but he's Irish so I may have seen him on tv at some point. He reminded me of John Simm's Master in DW.
It's funny because the majority of the folks on the Guardian boards hated him, but I thought he was just right.
The only thing I found a bit jarring was
how young he looked. But then he and Holmes are meant to be contemporaries, so it does make sense.
Well, the actor is exactly the same age as BC - 34. He just looks rather young. Very highly regarded stage actor, apparently.
So not only are they exact contemporaries but he would have been
about 12 in 1988, the same age as the boy he killed. It all fits perfectly
.
Loved the shot of
the windows exploding behind Sherlock. Very Who
.
I agree, all the way around...about the episode and the actor. My favorite Sherlock so far.
Not sure exactly what was different, but the visuals make a much greater impact this time around. Arty, but in total service to the story.
Moriarty
was so rational in his insanity that it was deeply chilling.
Watson
falling into the trap was a bit, whuh?, given his skills and such, but since they did it all off screen, I was willing to rapidly handwave and get right back into the breathlessness of it
.
Well DONE show.
Side note: the pocket magnifying glass cracks me up every time.
Goddamnit, it's going to be forever before there's new Sherlock, isn't it.
I couldn't believe it when I realized they were done at 3. How could something so good be so limited?
On another note, has anybody else seen Bionic Vet? I'm ridiculously hot for Noel Fitzpatrick. Though I imagine he's a fairly difficult character in his personal life...if he even has one. But, wow, he's a rockstar. That passion is impressive.
