"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I also find "potty mouth" a truly revolting phrase, which gives me visuals of coprophagy.

Well, I do think that's the rationale behind saying that to kids (or anyone). Equating profanity with something seriously, revoltingly nasty, I mean. Along the lines of "Do you kiss your mother/father with that mouth?"

Sidenote: with "No, but I kiss yours with it." being the obvious blowback comment.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I am truly sorry I brought it up. Initially my curiosity outweighed my disgust but that is no longer the case.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

Someone tell me they've seen the Ashes to Ashes season two finale and is up for discussing it, before I lose my mind entirely...

Spoiler for such: Genius, or just random, slightly desperate way of extending the story? Does this mean something new for our understanding of the universe that Sam, and then later Alex, created? Or is better not to think about it too much? Infinite regress makes me head-spinny.

I am, I am!

Re your question: um, I'm not sure yet, not helped by the fact that I was interrupted by a small sleepy child (which was possibly responding to the In the Night Garden music, come to think of it) right at the climax, and haven't yet had a chance to rewatch.

I don't think that it means anything new, though; I think she's still stuck in 1982 - she said as much herself - and this is one of those nice, dreamlike wish-fulfillment hallucinations she has from time to time .

Philip Glenister has stated publicly that AtoA Series 3 will be Gene Hunt's very last outing, so I think - hope - we can expect everything to be wrapped up nicely about this time next year .

Fiona, yay - Genetalk!

[Spoilers for AtoA s2 finale] You said "I think she's still stuck in 1982 - she said as much herself". I may need to rewatch myself, but I heard her say "I'm in a coma in 1982?", which I didn't interpret as necessarily meaning she *wasn't* also waking up in 2009. I may be overthinking this - I was going into the realms of different aspects of consciousness being in different places/times, but that could be too complex for AtoA. A coma within a coma, though - generally, it's a plotline worthy of Shakespeare (along with mistaken identities between twins and suchlike).

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I heard what Seska heard, and thought much of what she thought. I mean, we've had verification of the "reality" of the Hunt timeline, more or less, with the dead body from next door. I'm not sold on whether Alex's 2000-whatever that she's in at the moment is real...of course, that would totally undermine the reality of 1982, if it weren't, dream within a dream and all that.

I, personally, like the idea that they're both real, in meaningful ways. The question of choosing between realities is a more compelling one if neither is totally fictitious. But it has to be an alternate timeline, doesn't it? I really wish they'd said outright that there never was such a person as Gene Hunt at the beginning of A2A, just for clarity's sake. Although, maybe they're holding that to the end, have him show up as his 72-year-old self. According to Philip Glenister, they're going to deal with who he really is in the final series, so here's hoping he's not the devil.
