Well, it's called Kindergarten because, you know, Germany, but I refer to it as "preschool" because that's the US equivalent. It differs from US Kindergarden in that doesn't really involve any preparation for school at all. C. is three and has just started. There's a picture of the two of them on her first day here:

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Awww. I see dinos are a big Benno theme. :-)

I think I got a half-day of some preschool for a while, but they pretty much threw tiny children into kindergarten to sink or swim circa 1965. Kids today have it so easy. ::thumps cane on floor::

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Fiona, your kids are so awesome! And enormous!

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

What Jesse said!

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Oh they're gorgeous. And huge.

Now I'm getting all nostalgic and remembering when Fiona posted that she was going into labor. The time does fly.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Schone kinder, Fiona! (I canna do the umlaut!) Those are some pretty children, they just brought back a flood of memories of my preschoolers in Nurnberg, and the coos of women on the street. Your little ones deserve the compliment. So beautiful, and so big!

Beverly - that's where we are!

Anyway, as of today school is already boring, because "we haven't actually learned anything yet".

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Fiona, he is adorable. Your kids are awesome indeed!

I really miss it. I'd go back in a heartbeat, if the occasion arose. We lived in Firth, actually, but Nurnberg was a hop, skip away.

Do we have any istas actually in England these days?

Friends of mine are going on tour. They'll be playing in London, Stockwell, Brighton, Liverpool and Manchester over the next two weeks.

The Mood are wonderful. I'm biased because I pretty much love them, but they're wonderful. They give a great show. I've seen them play clubs and bars and most recently a acoustically proper theater (which was weird because we were sitting but the sound was beautiful)and they always knock it out of the park. They're charming but not cloying, attractive but not cutesy. Their songs are catchy and complex at the same time.
