I dunno, it's been sixty years since the Pope was in the German army, and people still give him grief for that.
He wasn't in the German army, he was in the Hitler Youth, which was compulsory for young men at the time.
UnAmerican Buffistas: pedantic since 1999.
Wasn't he also conscripted in the last days of the War and deserted? Not that that's relevant..
Nice article about the Continuum 3 convention in Melbourne. [link]
Hah, jim, you're right, he was conscripted towards the end of the war. What a lousy pedant I am.
Death Star Plans.
I think his girlfriend is very lucky. If only he had a better grasp of apostrophe use, I'd be tempted to fight her for him. Only I'd want to keep the speaker.
I'm going to be visiting my father in Bangor, Wales for two weeks, arriving this Sunday. I'm not sure if any Buffistas live near there, but if anyone would like a get-together, let me know! My profile address is fine (or you could just mention it here).
Fun fun fun.

Happy Anniversary, London.
Oh, bloody
marvellous.
Yesterday 3 more bombs on tube trains and one on a bus in London, AND the police shoot some bloke dead (who had bloody well BETTER have been guilty as sin, and even if he was, I'm still very disconcerted that they just shot him dead). Today there's another frigging bomb in Egypt. Great. Fabulous. Yay.
I'm flying back to Blighty on the 26th/27th. Wonder what fun things will be happening then?
