"It's utterly absurd given what everyone involved has previously said" and "But where do you get an idea like that, if there's no basis whatsoever?"

That was me when I heard.

Personally, I'd say it's part beat up (Apparently she's launching in the States in a couple of months, and I'd put dollars to doughnuts that this is her PR people just trying to put a few clicks on the internet site as the Americans say "who's that?" and go searching) and part miscontrustion of the other "rumour" I read today which was about casting for the movie (apparently scheduled for release in Summer 2004. um.. yeah?!?)

Me? I'm with Wil Anderson on the "This is wrong wrong wrong" side of the fence. (Which is okay really, 'cause the fence she do block my view of HV.)

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

What Jim said.

Although the only time I've seen Holly Valance on anything, she seemed like a nice lass. Good luck to her, and all that. But The Star is rubbish. Hell, the article ended with:

Gellar has turned down a seventh year in the show, which is watched by millions of people around the world

so it's not exactly the most trustworthy of sources, surely?

Well, of course it would be wrong wrong wrong to "replace" SMG with anyone at this point. But Holly is gorgeous, she can act (shut up! she can so!!) and I can see her pulling off the action stuff, so in some parallel universe I think she'd be great!

t edit Plus I make a point of disagreeing with anything Wil Anderson or any other JJJ announcer thinks.

Strawberry disappointment.

Unfortunately she has that problem where she looks like a frog. And a surprised one at that. Maybe the frog was surprised at getting offered the role of Buffy.

I don't know from the acting, but I'm perfectly willing to credit it - don't watch Neighbours these days, but she wouldn't be the first talented actor to have done a stint on a soap. However, I saw her playing the piano and singing that song, and I thought she was jolly good. Props to her. (I mean, she's only wee, isn't she? Still in her teens?) But the prospect of her appearing on BtVS or any spinoff? Not big, imutterlyuninformedho

Snerk, yes, I think I need a fence as well, if only to bash my head against. I'm glad Wil was appropriately horrified, as the only bit I heard properly through my sleep haze was the theorizing on re-casting other Neighbour's actors as either Anya or Spike. *shudder* So wrong on so many levels.

Also, movie? Hasn't that poor dead horse suffered enough?

Edited to add:

Hee hee hee...Um, being petty and vicious isn't that big of karmic deal is it? Cause I'd hate to come back as a frog or something myself and end up bitter at the irony elves.

Okay Children, I think we're done picking on Angus' secret television guuuuuuurlfriend....

Hasn't that poor dead horse suffered enough?

Apparently not, for it was out enjoying the air again today.

Ha! It's true, I would change teams for Holly in an instant.

If you must pick on a Neighbours star-turned-songstress, please be my guest and maul the unspeakable Delta Goodrem to bits.

I am fat-cat-with-a-fish smug at my complete ignorance of who this is. I knew that depriving myself of television in order to work and attend Law school would pay off one day -- who knew it would be so soon?

This is a case where ignorance is bliss, Leigh.
