I notice Joss does a commentary for both "Welcome to the Hellmouth" and "The Harvest" and I was wondering if it was worth grabbing a copy -- even though I already own season 1.
Ok, see, that comment was written by Idiot Jed, my multiple personality guy.
The Region 4 DVD does, in factually actually, contain the Jossentaries.
Though not as good as his Jossentary for "Innocence". Who knew Tony Head resents wearing pants?
Oh and I doubt I'll bother with the Region 1 versions. I suspect the video quality will be the same for all the regions. To clean up the abysmal transfer they'd need to redo it and I doubt they went to that expense.
Of course, 5 years from now it will be a different story and no doubt Fox'll release "remastered" DVD sets with the picture quality we should've got in the first place. Should be good for milking a few extra bucks out of geeks like me.
Who knew Tony Head resents wearing pants?
blinks. collapses giggling.
Do you mean what I took that to mean? Or do you mean normal-trousers-other-than-jeans, or something mad? 'Cause now all I can think of is Commando!Giles. Which isn't a bad thought, I hasten to add. Just unexpected.

I get the impression Tony prefers working in just his jocks ... or maybe he's a boxer shorts type o' guy. Either way, he gets angry if he's made to wear pants.

t giggling like a twelve-year-old.
Dude, that's wonderful. It's like
The Incredible Hulk,
or something. Only pornier. "Don't make me wear pants. You won't like me when I wear pants."
And I love the guilty way that you added "According to Joss" there. Bwah.
/me ponders if he should mention Joss talking about his big man-toy.
nah
seriously, though, the Jossentary for "Innocence" is
everything
a commentary should be; funny, insightful, reverant, irreverant. His deep love for all his actors -- especially Sarah and Alyson -- and crew is clearly evident, as is his love of the show and the genre(s) and television/movie-making in general. Worth the price of the DVD alone.
Damn you, wee Jimi. I have seasons 1-5 of BtVS on video (boxed sets) and seasons 1-2 of AtS, and I
crave
the DVDs, despite my lack of, oh, a DVD Player. Crave them, I tell you. For their commentaries.
la la la, I can't
hear
you.
t /tempted.
Fay ... I'll be honest and say, I, personally, did not think much of the other commentaries. Joss' commentaries for WttHM and "The Harvest" are fine, though not as detailed as the "Innocence" commentary. Marti Noxon's commentaries for WML Pts 1 & 2 are pretty good but the commentaries by Fury, Espenson, Greenwalt and Petrie were so boring I turned them off after 10 or so minutes.
