I've heard of this in other international fandoms, but I always figured it was because the Americans themselves were slow.

It wasn't a date kind of a date, for several obvious reasons, it was just a 'watching a video together' kind of date conducted internationally.

And the movie was the original BtVS movie starring Kristy Swanson, so a few technical difficulties didn't spoil it too much.

Remember when Buffy got period pains which warned her that vampires were around?

Kind of a spidey-sense, but more of a crampy-sense?
