"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

What's the best way to ease digestion of a too large meal? I almost never overeat, so I'm not sure how that works. Lie down?

Lie down is good. I also drink fizzy water. It's counter intuitive to put more stuff down there, but it actually makes everything move through the system more quickly so it relieves the belly pressure.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Go ita!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I can't fight, I can't have a proper full nelson put on, I can't be thrown, and I need to wear headgear for any stick defenses. I'm sad about the first, appalled by the dorkiness fo the last, and pretty much A-OK with the middle two.

That all seems reasonable and good. Congratulations! You're allowed to kick other people in the head all you want, right?

Yay, ita!

Kat, what courses are you teaching/facilitating? Are you liking your program?

And Ireland sounds fabulous. DH and I are going to London for his birthday the Feb. 20 weekend. We fully recognize that the weather may be shit, but as we've never been to London before, we intend to have a blast.

erika, sadly I've no doubt that whatever happens in The Wire this season will pale in comparison to the real life craziness in most large urban school districts today.

Edited because I can spell sometimes and fully is not the only adjective I know

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

But the important thing, pass or fail--I get to try.
Great news! Well mostly great but I am going to focus on the rightness of t points up this.

Always Anti-fascist!

That's why you always get the blank-inside get-well card that your friends have to write in "I'm Sorry You Can't Kick Somebody In the Head Right Now..." Although I often feel that way without the skills to back it up. Kat, yeah, probably they're gonna do the composite thing. But they will be true-to-life composites. And probably if it is like the other seasons, teachers will love it, principals less so, and some superintendent will flip his shit all over the Sun for my fellow fiends and me to read.(The Wire has an authority problem...the brass hates it. Whichever brass. But since our family motto would be "I Fight Authority and Authority Always Wins." this is kind of a draw.) Balmer needs the $1,000,000,000 that every season pumps in though so the city can't complain too much.

YAY! London will be excellent fun! We're going to London for 2 days before we go to Ireland, as a matter of fact.

I'm facilitating a 6-meeting class on pop culture in the classroom and I'm teaching (though I got called director by the project director today so who knows) a class on composition and writing methodology.

ita, good luck!

Oooh. I would love to take your class on pop culture in the classroom.

Does it feel the same to teach on the university level? I mean, do you approach your planning and implementation the same way? I don't know if I'm asking what I'm trying to ask very well. Shoot.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Do only people named Kat get to go to the British Isles? That doesn't seem fair.

Where does cash cab air?

Discovery.

OMG! So much fun! How does one get on this show? Just random dumb luck? How much can you win? Are the questions closer to Jeopardy or Supermarket Sweep?

Yes, dumb luck! I just saw a pair of women win like $1300. The questions are possibly exactly halfway between Jeopardy and Supermarket Sweep -- regular person trivia.

kat, it's totally different. I don't plan! For the Pop culture class, I NEVER plan. Isn't that awful?

Also, I coteach both classes.

And it's different because I don't assign things or grade etc. It's all pass fail and if you come and participate it's a pass.
