So, with the wait we're going to have for (knock on wood) season 3, let's speculate on what could possibly be important enough to make Keith bail on Veronica?

I'm ruling out money, no matter how much. Maybe someone can make a good argument to convince me that that's all it is (enough to pay for college was one I've heard batted about), but I'm guessing it's not going to be that prosaic.

Photos of Duncan and the baby that give away his location? Compromising pictures of Lamb? Nahhhhhhhh.

I'm quite stumped actually.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

For Keith to bail on Veronica, I feel like whatever is in the briefcase would have something to do with Veronica, or maybe Lianne. Or poses some danger to the world. Keith's priority is Veronica and he has shown that again and again. If their wasn't imminent danger, I feel like Keith would have at least gone to the airport to tell Veronica that they ouldn't go, or tell her to take Mac or something

With Aaron and Cassidy dead, I just can't think of what would pose an imminent danger.

Also, I didn't get a sense of "Danger! Danger Will Robinson!" from Keith's reaction, he seemed more surprised/astonished than concerned/scared.

Would anything to do with Lianne really be that important to Keith at this point? Hmmm. Have they actually divorced? Wedding photos might be something that would get him moving.

Or maybe Kendall wasn't as out of the room as much as Clarence thought and she got photos of the execution (really reaching here).

Because books.

So, with the wait we're going to have for (knock on wood) season 3, let's speculate on what could possibly be important enough to make Keith bail on Veronica?

I think we need to narrow it down to things we know Kendall was involved with:

the real estate scam
the Fitzgeralds
sleeping with Logan

That last could pose some threat to Veronica, and I agree -- whatever is in the briefcase has to mean "take immediate action" to Keith, or he wouldn't strand Veronica at the airport.

Since the plot threads about the Fitzgeralds weren't completely tied up, it's not impossible that they could have something to do with next season, and they certainly don't like Veronica.

The real estate scam is a little more iffy, because I also agree that if it's only money at stake, Keith wouldn't care.

For Keith to bail on Veronica, I feel like whatever is in the briefcase would have something to do with Veronica, or maybe Lianne.

The Lianne angle is really interesting -- maybe Kendall knows where Lianne went with Keith reward money from S1. If she's in danger, maybe that would be enough to pull Keith in?

I don't think that's reaching at all. That's been my top guess.

Really? I guess it doesn't give me that "stand Veronica up" vibe. What exactly is he going to do then and there? Granted, I can't see him saying "What are you here for, take them to the sheriff", but is he going to go tracking down Clarence ASAP?

What is even happening?

Enrico is 43

I'll have to tell dh. I fear this isn't going to help curb the chest thumping, though.

a year older than me (yikes!).

Jon, I'm 39. I pegged you at about 28-30 when we met, which was a couple of years ago. I'm usually not that far off when someone is close enough to my age, particularly when the person is older than I am. You are youth, personified.

I took one for the team and googled to find out what the chances of infection were from a single unprotected encounter with an infected person were, and they're (per the public health site I was looking at) about 50%, so, y'know, flip a coin.

I'm just trying to decide if Duncan would be more or less likely to catch it, if/since he was there right after Beaver.

So, if Duncan got it, then Meg probably had it. Could the baby catch it from her mother?

Yes she could DX (it's possible, but not a given), but chlamydia is one of the things a pregnant woman is screened for, right away. If Meg had any sort of prenatal care before the crash, she would have been treated, then. Huh. Maybe she was, and that contributed to her bitterness toward Veronica.

If Meg didn't have prenatal care before the crash, she should have been screened once she was hospitalized.

I've always thought that D/V was safe during the rape. There were condoms all around (thrown by Dick, of all people, for Cassidy's sake (notice the lack of "Beaver")) and I've always believed he used them. I'm not sure why, at the moment, but it's always seemed right.

Yeah, but you have to use them right, and you can't have any genital contact at all, you know? I think he would have used one if he saw it, and if it registered, but I can't be convinced he used completely proper procedure.

The thing about chlamydia is that safe sex doesn't protect against its transmission as well as it does other STDs. That's one reason some groups are fighting distribution of a chlamydia vaccine--at the moment they believe that since condoms don't protect well against chlamydia people are less likely to engage in premarital sex. For the record, I don't buy this reasoning. Chlamydia is also rarely symptomatic in men, so unless Duncan and the Beav were tested for it, they probably wouldn't know that they have it.

Right. I mean, Beaver (I refuse to call him Cassidy when I'm talking about him raping my girl) may have used a condom. It featured prominently in all three versions of the scene with Beaver being left alone with Veronica, in ATttD. Sean mentioned it. Dick mentioned it, and Beaver mentioned it. One ironic note, now that we know what really happened at Shelly's party is that, in all three versions, either Dick or Sean said, "Make sure you suit up. You don't know where she's been."

I wonder if he didn't suit up, on purpose.

Strawberry disappointment.

My theory is that the briefcase contained CC's playboy photo shoot.

Actually, I like the information on Ma Mars' whereabouts theories.

Nah, you're all wrong, the suitcase contained Lorne's head.

I knew that topless lady had something up her sleeve. - John Prine

Beaver (I refuse to call him Cassidy when I'm talking about him raping my girl)

Why? Beaver was the abused little brother/younger son/molestation victim. Cassidy was the pro-active mass murderer -- serial mass murderer even (assuming handcuffed Woody wasn't flying the plane by himself.)

Wasn't there a shot of Veronica's phone at the airport that said "no signal" or something like that? I thought there was, which was why she couldn't call Keith. And if there were no signal she couldn't get incoming calls or messages, so I'm giving Keith the benefit of the doubt. He made a unilateral decision to postpone, or possibly cancel, the NY trip, but that doesn't mean he necessarily left his daughter w/o word. He might have called, gone directly to voice mail, & not realized that she didn't get the message. As far as the suitcase I agree with whoever said there was enough money to pay for her to go to Stanford. Big difference between $20K and $200-300K, or whatever four years at Stanford costs these days. (Of course, big payday or no, VM's going to Hearst.)
