What is even happening?

Oh, noes. Hart video taped some of the stuff in the Woodman house for Beaver, didn't he?

Last spam...

How did you all recognize Hart? I didn't have a clue. I know tiggy said she just watched the episode in question, but she wasn't the only one to recognize him. His presence in that scene threw me, until I came here this morning, and realized who he was.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Don't the new medical privacy laws preclude them giving away a witness's medical history in open court? And Keith finding out about that way was awful.

Are witness medical histories even open to defense attorneys? I would have thought not due to doctor/patient confidentiality, which would beg the question, how do they know Veronica had an STD unless they know someone she slept with had an STD. Veronica didn't tell anyone, did she?

I have no clue about the legalities. It doesn't seem like they should be able to introduce that sort of information, but if they wanted to show that Veronica was somehow careless in her sex life, to back up their assertion that she was coming onto Aaron...Ugh. I have no clue. It doesn't seem likely. Neptune is corrupt, though.

I don't think Veronica told anyone, but the case must have been well publicized, because Aaron is a movie star. Movie stars have groupies, who can be lab workers or medical secretaries, etc. Movie stars also have money. People with money can hire private eyes to get medical information to which they should not be privy. Private eyes find out medical things like Type IV Rage Epilepsy, alla da time, in Neptune.

How freaking cool was Keith? "Are you all right?" *sniff* I'm so pissed Lamb got to be present for that little revelation.

The evil is this way?

"I'll kill you. Or myself. At this point it's a toss-up."

Best. Line. Ever. In this episode, anyway.

The laws definitely prohibit a health care provider from disclosing that information. I dunno if Veronica's violated privacy rights preclude her from being questioned about an issue once the defense attorney has the information. Which leads me to my bigger issue -- the topic was irrelevant. Veronica didn’t claim that she was a virgin – in fact she admitted dating at least 2 boys. So, unless unchaste women are inherently unreliable as witnesses, I don’t see why the judge allowed the defense attorney to question Veronica about it. It was a smear on a collateral issue.

And this neatly takes care of the limo/bus thing that made no sense if Gia were the intended victim. Plus the bomb being in the gift basket intended for Peter.

Why would Beaver put a bomb in the gift basket? Why not just leave it on the bus when he got off?

He could have been behind the recording sent to Woody – and thus it was his voice that was edited out. I think Veronica/Keith are going to take the recording to Mac to see if she can do some computer-thingy to recover the edited-out portion. I think she does and realizes that it’s Beaver.

Oh. Crap.

I had more to say, but now my brain is stuck on how much sense that makes given the preview.

Why would he send that to Woody if he's the one who took out the bus? To scare Woody that a similar fate was waiting for him, perhaps. But it still leads to why did Woody make sure Gia wasn't on the bus, which implies foreknowledge.

Similarly, why would anyone else send that tape to Woody but edit out Cassidy?

And then there's still the question of the damn rat.

If Beaver sent the tape, I think it tends to show that he didn't put the bomb on the bus. Beaver was trying to stop the incorporation.

Apart from Big Dick, no one. And Big Dick would be motivated by a desire not to have HIS son identified as a victim, not out of any concern for Beaver.

This was my problem with it. Also that the judge allowed it. Why? It has no bearing on whether or not Veronica would have propositioned Aaron.

But it still leads to why did Woody make sure Gia wasn't on the bus, which implies foreknowledge.

This is true.

Actually, I'm not sure if I *can* wrap my head around Cassidy being behind the crash. I get that emotionally he wouldn't want to be outed, and the reasons why, but don't most people who aren't born-to-it criminals think smaller? As in, work on the individuals in question personally -- offer money for silence, maybe, and promise that they could have their revenge another way, maybe by killing Woody?

Narrator's interpretation of the tape, with the image of Mac crying on the preview, makes sense, but I still don't completely buy Beav as the culprit.

What I can see is someone like Woody's wife doing it. Likes the power and money, hates that her husband is a twisted sicko, but won't give up the money and power, either, and therefore decides to remove the possible outers from the picture.

Except that Woody's wife isn't a character, so it can't be her. Gia, though...

Heh. Well we do only have her word that Woody called her and told her not to be on the bus...
