I think Weevil's storyline did suffer toward the end. He is an asset to Veronica but once the writers decided he wasn't a factor in the murder, I don't think they really knew what to do with the character in that final arc. The CotWs toward the end, other than M.A.D. with Carmen, didn't really involve him.
Wallace, on the other hand, can fit pretty easily into any scenario involving Veronica without feeling forced. Now that Lilly's murder is wrapped up, the writers really have to decide what direction they're going to take with Weevil.
Vonnie, that friend's name is Bubba.
t not really here
Oh, yeah. Bubba [somelong Eastern European name ending with -ski]. I was always uneasy about K&G casually exploiting this guy, who sounded like he belonged in an asylum for the criminally insane. I always hoped this would come and bite them in the ass, although... OK, it's not like they lacked personal trauma.
I never got to the last book --"Gone, Baby, Gone"--which I understand was Bubba-heavy. I hear that one is pretty harrowing. Perhaps I should pick it up again.
I still think the books would make kick-ass movie adaptations, damnit.
I liked Veronica's black string chocker though. As a matter of fact, I'd covet her entire wardrobe if I were 20 years younger.
there was an interview with KB somewhere and they asked her about the necklaces. it turns out that both of them were her idea. the leather choker is made by someone she knows in Cali that makes those kind of things. i really want one. i have issues with chokers being too large for me because i have a skinny neck, but i figure if it fit her, it can fit me.
it's silly how excited i was to see 40 plus posts in this thread.

Lehane was one of the guests of honor at a mystery convention I went to last weekend. He says he was in the midst of major depression while he was writing that book, and it shows. Just so you know.

tiggy, you're not alone in your excitement at such things.

I figured that a book that starts with an abducted child and the title "Gone, Baby, Gone" wouldn't end well. I don't know if I'd ever be in the right headspace for that book, frankly.

I have issues with how these things are named "chockers" and the part where I have trouble wearing turtlenecks because I can't bear to have anything close to my windpipe. Oy.
Logan and his fugly necklace. Oy. I wonder whether that was inflicted on Jason Dohring by the costume people or it's his own.
It beats the Pimp Chain.
POWER CENTER!!!
I just meant that as a Logan and V/L fan, we have to deal with a lot of generalizations about who we are and how we supposedly feel about things.
I hear you V/L fans love muffalettas and pronounce the word "pecan" as PEE-can.
Sorry. I'll be good now.
or, perhaps, they had what they thought was an interesting character and/or actor, but then didn't really know what to do with him except be there to help out Veronica at regular intervals.
Yeah, this was pretty much the impression I got. I wouldn't be surprised to see them fade him out, though I'll be sorry to see it.
