I hate to break it to you, oh impotent one, but you're not the big bad anymore, you're not even the kind of naughty.

Buffy and Angel 1: BUFFYNANGLE4EVA!!!!!1!

Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

I can't do watch and post while it's going on. And a lot of the fun of watch and post (at least when I read through it) seems to be the surprises. For most of us, we're not going to have that with Buffy and Angel. We could start a rewatch thingie though, and do it right in this thread, and whoever wanted to could make it a watch-n-post experience, too.

I think that's a great idea!

Maybe once a month?

What is even happening?

I'm sorry. I was falling in love with your tag. Did you say something?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Assuming SMG were available.

Why? She wasn't in the ep.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

She wasn't in the ep.

Which, to me, was a contributor to the suckage.

Hell, just knowing it was the back of her head would have eased my eye-rolling.

A little.

Oh, I agree. But her presence isn't necessary just to move the ep up in the season.

Since several people mentioned liking the TGiQ subplot with Illyria & Fred's parents... could someone elaborate on that? I know my feelings for the characters involved didn't make me terribly receptive to that story, but I'd like to at least understand what other people got from it, even if I can't feel it myself. For me, those scenes were far more unpleasant to watch than the Italian hijinks.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

There was the cool shock value, and getting to watch Wesley's pained response, and seeing the wheels turning in Illyria's mind as it started exploring opportunities to manipulate and influence people that didn't rely on overwhelming brute force.

I thought that AD and AA knocked it out of the park, and it was just harrowing for me in general.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

What Matt and ita said.

Also, Burkles! The one pair of sane, loving, non-dead parents in the entire Jossverse!
