If I only had a brain...

I like the Guardian's writeup. [link]

Finally, special mention to Scarlett Johanssen, unceasing in her quest to try to make herslf look at least 30 years older than she is.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Not to mention sound like. I think she must be smoking five packs a day.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

That's what leads to things like this:

British royal PRINCESS MICHAEL OF KENT is desperate for SCARLETT JOHANSSON to star in a film of her latest book - because she believes the LOST IN TRANSLATION star is "ugly" enough to play frumpy wife CATHERINE DE MEDICI.

The Princess's book THE SERPENT AND THE MOON is based on the love triangle between young French KING HENRI II, his long-suffering wife Catherine de Medici and his older mistress DIANE DE POITIERS.

She explains, "I imagine CATE BLANCHETT for Diane and JUDE LAW as Henri - very broody and handsome. And as Catherine de Medici, can't you see Scarlett Johansson? I think it would be quite easy to make her appear ugly."

Um. Is she implying that Cate has been shaving two decades off her age?

HelLO. She recently played someone thousands of years old. She can handle Diane.

I thought I had a meeting this evening. I don't have a meeting this evening. I was all geared and stuff. For naught. Until next week.

Did the person look thousands of years old? Because put Cate next to Jude and I'm really not feeling much of a "May-December" vibe.

In unrelated news, I wanna go home.

Doesn't she realize that this would put her completely out of the age range sought by the desperate midlife crisis-having men she wants to date?

How long does the story span? Although I was being facetious, the idea of Cate Blanchett made up to look 66 doesn't bend my mind at all. A shame to have her looking 20 years older than Jude, though.
