Goodbye 2004. You were a crushing disappointment to me. I began the year with great hopes and plans. It was the year I turned 50. It was the year we would finally toss out Dubbya.
It began well. I had a glorious trip to LA to celebrate my 50th in February . The time spent with Lori at Joshua Tree was just what I needed and I am so very grateful for her efforts on my behalf. Alas, my physical capabilities at 50 were not in reality what they were in my mind. I thought I would fix that in 2004.
2004 was a year of paralysis. There were exceptions with several grand moments, including DC and SF Buffista filled trips, and several low moments, yes the election was a very low point. The bulk of the year was spent in a fog, going through the motions. I accomplished none of the things I intended to accomplish in 2004.
I feel more hopeful for 2005. I have made changes in my diet which have made me feel much better physically. My health had deteriorated over the last decade to the point where I did not recognize myself. It was gradual and I expect the recovery to be gradual, but it has begun and I am optimistic.
Prepare to see a more active life participant in 2005.
Thank you Buffistas for making the good times better and the bad times more bearable.
I keep checking to see if my giftee has rec'd anything but nothing! And 'twas mailed before Chrismas, too. Okay, 15 minutes before the post office closed for the holiday, but still, before.
My Sekrit Santa gift arrived today and juliana is an awesome gifter!! The woman covered *all* the bases!
Treats for my tummy: Homemade goodies, chocolate mint candy and peppermint tea. (Tea is caff free, bless her heart! And she should never worry about sending homemade goodies that taste this amazing!)
Treats for my body: An beautiful silver atomizer with its very own teeny tiny funnel, a ring fit for a queen and chocolate orange lip butter. Mmmm!
Treats for my soul: Snarky fridge magnet that reads "she was disinclined to play by the rules" and two kick-ass coasters with "do i look like i give a rat's ass?" on one and "monica, dear, that was a precious little story. now, be a sweetheart and fix mommy another martini." on the other. All three fit in perfectly with my other fridge magnets and coasters, which I'm not sure how she managed to do since she's never been to my house, but I love her for her mystical abilities!
And finally - (Aren't you all jealous?)
Treats for my (quirky) sense of humor: Four gag items to torture my co-workers with (fake flies, rubber worm, pucker gum drops, fake ketchup spill) and Lucky Monkey bandages. Monkey!
Thank you, juliana! Mwah! Mwah! MWAH!
"monica, dear, that was a precious little story. now, be a sweetheart and fix mommy another martini."
My family has this on cocktail napkins. We pretend it's ironic.
Everything that happened in 2004, the good and bad, was made better by sharing them with you all. Life goes better with Buffistas. Thanks!
We pretend it's ironic.
I actually need to get them for our house. We know it's not ironic. :)
Yay!! I'm glad you enjoyed them, Nicole. The chocolate-orange lipgloss is lucky it made it out of our house alive.
Announcement: My Seekrit Santa present was sent out Monday via USPS Priority Mail.
Analysis: I can procrastinate with the best of them.
I can't wait until the person receives it! I'm silly like that.
2004 was the year I DIDN'T know about Buffistas. No more! As of yesterday evening, I now know of its marvellous existence and shall be Buffy-friendless no more!
(BTW, I am new here. A friend pointed me in this general direction and to him (BillyTea), I shall be eternally grateful.
Bells
HI BELLS! Any friend of billytea's is someone who deserves some hearty capslock action. WELCOME!!!!
