In the last couple of days I've been told that I have no life. Maybe I should try and get one of those in 2005. Are there stores for that sort of thing?
Goodbye and Good Riddance 2004: Well, I Wasn't Expecting That.
Every year we watch the Charlie Brown special, do the Snoopy dance, wish everybody a Merry Christmukkah, and thank our Secret Santas in the good riddance thread. Which is this one, in case you were wondering. Oh, and 2004? Don't think we've forgotten about you.
Phooey. Don't listen to them, aurelia. I have relatives like that. The lives they tried to buy in the stores didn't make them happy, so they look for it at the bottom of a bottle and don't find it there, either.
Are there stores for that sort of thing?
Sweetie, you're in one. Fourth floor, cocktail party snark, news before the mainstream media ever sniffs it, ladies lingerie (well, corsetry, anyway)...
dcp, that's good (for me, not that your relatives are unhappy) 'cause I doubt I have the cash for that sort of shopping.

Heh. Yep, that's kinda why I'm here. Thanks, Deb.
Sweetie, you're in one.
SO true. I'd be seriously psychotic by now if I didn't shop here at Buffista Emporium.
All of you people who think you had the best Secret Santa are wrong, wrong, wrong. Sue is the best. I have Lush bath bombs, handmade olive oil soap from Halifax, The Escapist comic (because she saw I had just read Kavalier and Clay), a magazine from Montreal, a Secret Santa Mix CD, ladybug magnets, a beautiful piece of local pottery and a toaster (in the form of a tea towel). It was a very exciting package, full of Christmas glitter and wonderful and very thoughtful presents. Can I adopt you, Sue? You're a much better Santa than any of my relatives.
Aw Ginger, I'm so glad you like it. And that it arrived!
Hey, is it too late to do the "my 2004" thing?
2004 was not bad, but I wish so much of it hadn't gone past in a blur. Officially got the job I've always wanted (and by, "always wanted," I mean "since age 8") although I'd been doing it, sans title, for a while. I worked too much, had too little time here and not enough of those "weekend" things people talk about. DH worked too much too, and his work is not as fun as mine (although much, much, much better paid). LB grew so fast this year! He's now a little guy, who reads, and draws elaborate superhero montages, and declares that when he gets big he's going to make movies where people hit each other ON PURPOSE. (I don't know where that came from, but ... okay. Whatever he wants to do ... ita, will you consult on-set?) I finally got to see Firefly, and started the addiction that is "The O.C.", while maintaining "The Wire" as my favorite post-Whedon show. Although I met a lot of neat people in 2005, they were all real--I didn't read enough fiction. (Nor did I keep up with my nonfiction list). I didn't cook enough or exercise enough or goof off enough or see friends enough (especially y'all, I don't think I've been in Natter since before it was of legal age) or write enough, so all those are on the list for 2005.
Oh, and Erika? I think the angry bitter McNulty was hotter too. (That last scene was a little Stepford for me.) I know it's my issues ... but want to scoot over on the bastard-McNulty bench so I can sit down? (Are you watching "Rescue Me"? Not quite as good as "The Wire" but damn good.)
I think the angry bitter McNulty was hotter too. (That last scene was a little Stepford for me.)
Oh and this is one of the main reasons I want HBO to give them another season. To bring the Pain to the Happy McNulty. (Also want renewal because the production brings like $17 million a season to my city which really, really needs it.)
I liked to see him happy, too. But I also thought "Is it me, or is he hotter as a drunken bastard who lies and wants midnight booty calls?"
"Hell yes," I thought, and then debated finding a therapist. But maybe I don't have to if it's Not Just Me.(y'all Bitches need to watch that shit. Much foaminess ensues. And arc, and social conscience, and fucking perfect dialogue that makes me so jealous I want to tear my hair out because it isn't mine...and I'm getting carried away again, huh? I said I wasn't gonna do that again, but Season one, on DVD right now, AIFG, caught me up again. From the beginning, with Snot Boogie. Snot Boogie(he had a runny nose the neighborhood won't forgive him) steals from the crap game, and somebody kills him for it.
And, McNulty, one of my stable of Secrit Fictional Boyfriends says "If you knew Snot was gonna steal, why did you let him play?"
Witness says "Got to. This is America, yo."
I am so in love!
Wibble.
Thanks for the reminder to call our bunkies at HBO this week.
And yes, heart "Rescue Me"ETA: The people at HBO are beginning to get Patient Voice, like when we called about Wonderfalls.
Like "I'm nice, but y'all fiends can stop calling us any minute now." Fwiw. This time last year, calling a stranger long-distance= petrifying.(Hope it works!! Not just for me but for Bodymore, Murderland, my fake home town. It's fucked up I love it because of its murder rate, huh? It's an underdog thing, like Cubs Fandom.)
Post election "It's all in the game."
My phone fear is vanquished. Never to return.
