Buffista Movies 3: Panned and Scanned

A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

There's also Chasing Liberty and First Daughter, the latter having specifically moved its release date to avoid being included on lists like this.

There are also the two Alexander the Great biopics in the pipeline, though it looks like Stone's going to beat Luhrmann to the punch.

Roguish Laird

I think the worst films I've ever seen have been at the opening nights of queer film festivals (it used to be seen as imperative to find a film with both gays and lesbians in approximately equal measure for opening night, regardless of quality).

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Talking of hot priests and dual-movies, The Third Miracle with Ed Harris came out around the same time as "Stigmata", dealing with a similar storyline. It was a much better movie, too. And Ed Harris as a tortured priest? Hotter than Gabriel Byrne.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Hmm....worst movie of all time? Probably a three-way tie between The Messenger, Sim0ne, and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. If DH were here he'd probably be able to remind me of a few more.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

For real, y'alls. Scooby Doo 2. With the "yoinks!" and the stupid CGI dog, and the dancing, and pretty much everything involving Shaggy and Scooby, and the cartoon was never that good in the first place, but marginally entertaining in a campy way, but as a movie? No. Not to mention a SEQUEL? Nononono.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Or pretty much any Bo Derek movie involving dialogue.

Even 10? Or do Julie Andrews and Dudley Moore not redeem that one?

Actually, the first one wasn't nearly as terrible as I thought it would be.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Highlander 2 is the worst movie I've ever seen in a theater. It sets a standard to which other bad movies can only aspire.

I saw it on video instead of in the theatre, but any movie that goes through 3 (or is it 4?) different in an attempt to not suck and still fails is pretty bad.

Not a movie, but I'm still annoyed at them spinning off Highlander the series into the dreck that was "The Raven". I think I hated it even more because I loved Amanda on the original show.

I can't even.

The premise that once she talks, the illusion is shattered, kinda redeems the movie with the irony. Plus, as you say, Dudley and Julie make a difference. I was thinking about 10, but I don't think of that as a Bo movie. She's kind of like set dressing, the way Arnie was in the first Terminator.

Ficht nicht mit Der Raketemensch!

Or the original Rollerball, for that matter.

Pah! One would need a heart of stone not to weep at the death of Moonpie.
