I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I'm so pleased to be the freak for once.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Before the episode, I was thinking maybe, just maybe, they'd have the big fight, our heroes would go out in a blaze of glory, and become a new set of Powers That Be. sigh ....

What is even happening?

No, seriously. He was her guide. He made the world make sense to her. She imprinted on him, she loved him, she followed him -- in an infantile way. I don't mean this as an insult. I mean, literally, that she depended on him as much as an infant depends on its mother, although her needs were emotional, psychological, and philosophical, rather than emotional and physical.

I think this is at least half of the story, and a really touching part of it. I will never again look at Illyria and not see her as Wesley's duckling. Still, I can't help but remember the importance of memory (real or otherwise) and the loss of memory, and the magical creation of memory, and its effects, in both the 'verse in general, and the emphasis on it, during this season in particular.

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

Since when can one alter prophesized events by signing the prophecy away, even in blood?

He didn't. It's obvious that Spike survives the coming fight.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Cindy, a few hundred posts ago, you asked if I was going to be in your area for a few days. I am not, since I am now in Baltimore at Anne's. I am sorry I missed you.

I skipped all of the posts since this morning, so sorry if this was already discussed. DebetEsse and I were talking on the way down, and we both sort of wondered if one of the reasons for the Illyria story line is so that AA could take part in the final fight. Even though Fred was large with the traps and the fun decapitation machines, they didn't usually have her taking part in the hand to hand fighting.

What do other people think?

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Hi all. As usual, I one of the last USA-folk to chime in on the ep, so I don't really have much to add.

Very bummed that Wes is dead. I know it was kind of inevitable, given all that's happened, but you can't blame me for hoping, can you?

I had heard that Joss was not planning to change the finale once the cancellation order came down. I wonder if that's true, since I can't see a season 6 with the line-up of Angel, Spike, Illyria and possibly Gunn. I'm not sure I'd want to watch it.

I just realized that with the end of Angel, I no longer have any shows I'm interested in on a more-than-superficial level. Ah, well...

The evil is this way?

I had heard that Joss was not planning to change the finale once the cancellation order came down. I wonder if that's true, since I can't see a season 6 with the line-up of Angel, Spike, Illyria and possibly Gunn.

According to this story, joss may have changed the finale a bit once the show was cancelled:

"After the cancellation, there were some hurt feelings among the cast and crew that manifested itself in the finale.

"'We put a lot of that heartbreak into the script, into the show, so it would hurt as much to watch as it did to have it taken away from us,' Whedon said. `I would not have been as brutal about the ending had we had another season.'"
