Can I point out that, in a discussion of "how we describe ourselves," we have already had impassioned swooning over the serial comma, whitefont wisecrackery, and several interjections of "Well, but what about this circumstance?"
Maybe this whole conversation needs to be our description. I mean, it is even way too long and scrolly to be practical! Prefect!
Unrelatedly, I just noticed this in the FF thread header:
Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, and the ensuing movie Serenity. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.
Firefly ought to be italicized as well.
Shouldn't this list include actuaries?

If we're describing a big portion of us, we're missing programmers (or whatever the term should be). There's got to be like 30 computer experts on the board, at least. But too many descriptions, like warnings on pill bottles, gets unwieldy.

Of course we're not going to list all the possible things that we are. It gives a taste of the fact that we are varied.
