Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

on edit: Oh I forgot Peewee's Playhouse and the Muppet Show!!

Yeah, so did I, though my Peewee watching was spotty at best.

This is the music thread, right?

TV lists are the new haiku.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

This is the music thread, right?

We don't have a generic TV thread (yet). Besides, almost all of those shows had music.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Sports Night.

'Cuz Dana and Perkins don't hang out here very often. Shrift might be by, though.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Sports Night.

I loved Sports Night but Aaron Sorkin used the same schtick over and over - I think SorkinEra!West Wing is actually a better show but it suffered the same fate.

t /has Sorkin issues

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Besides, almost all of those shows had music.

So did WKRP in Cincinnati, one of my favorites.

Huh. I do love the show, but there are many people that I would have put in front of me on the SportsNight love.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Also also, on topic, what should I listen to by Of Montreal?

Satanic Panic in the Attic and The Bedside Drama: A Petite Tragedy (which is out of print and may be hard to find) are my picks. The former is more accessible. It took me one or two listens to warm up to it, but once it hooked me, I was addicted. Listened to it all summer.

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

So did WKRP in Cincinnati, one of my favorites.

As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.

Possibly the funniest line ever uttered.

Always Anti-fascist!

God, I hate this list-making crap. I always forget something (And y'all made the dots. Commander Burrell would be pleased.)

  • The Sopranos* esp. Season 1
  • The Wire* especially Season 2(Yeah, yeah, it's the whitest. get a grip.)
  • Buffy especially the first three seasons.
  • Homicide:LOTSespecially the first three seasons
  • Mary Tyler Moore
  • Northern Exposure
  • Hill Street
Most exciting drama I'm currently watching is "Rescue Me" though it'll be some time before I'll know if it can run with the big dogs. But it's looking more like Homicide every day...with the musical montages and junk.
