I'd rather stay home and watch television. It's often funnier than killing stuff.

Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

I knew that topless lady had something up her sleeve. - John Prine

Richard Thompson interview & performance on Soundcheck today at 2. Should be archived by late afternoon if you can't listen live. He's also doing a free show at the World Financial Center tonight at 7. New Yorkers who haven't seen him definitely should not miss the opportunity. If I had to choose I'd prefer to see him with a band, but he's one of the few solo performers I enjoy hearing. Besides having thirty-five years of great material of his own the man is a human jukebox (long before he started doing his 1000 years of popular songs shows) and he has almost no constraints when performing solo so you could end up hearing just about anything.

I love Flyboy In the Buttermilk, and bought half a dozen when it got remaindered and gave them away to friends.

I love it, too, but it's a very idiosyncratic mix of high and pop cultures, and those not fluent in George Clinton-speak may have trouble finding their bearings. (Hint: Mothership Connection and or Funkentelechy vs. the Placebo Syndrome is the Rosetta Stone for cracking the Tate code.)

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

One of my fondest NYC memories is when, many years ago, I was visiting my best friend there and we ordered waffles and cigarettes to be delivered at midnight.

If it helps, we miss that too. All the good delivery services have gone out of business -- though freshdirect.com is da BOMB. You gotta get their cookie dough on your next visit.

A fellow makes himself conspicuous when he throws soft-boiled eggs at the electric fan.

OMG, thank you all so much for the dress song pointers! I see a kickass mix collection, very soon.

is it my turn for the buffistarawk mix? I've lost track.

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

Here's the list. I'm confused about who has gone, but I THINK it's Steph L.'s turn.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Oh, really? Crap. Gotcha. Will post fucked-up love song to buffistarawk tomorrow.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I know this is way late for discussion, but we just got "American Idiot" and it is amazing. It actually manages to deserve most of the hype, which is nice.

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

I had ripped it off a friend a while ago, Robin, but am just listening to it a lot recently. It's thrown me back into a rock phase and I love it to tiny pieces.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Damn straight. It took a couple listens for me to see it, but after it grew on me, I was impressed as hell. There's just so much goddamn passion in it.

Has anyone heard Imogen Heap's single 'Hide and Seek'? It gives me chills.

It was in the season finale of The OC, and I had to download it. FREAKY song.
