Pretty cool except for the part where I was really terrified and now my knees are all dizzy.

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Up with the sun

Clem Snide were at Sundance a few weeks ago.

Which reminds me: I want to download something by them from EMusic. Where should I start?

Anna who told me that they met Glen Campbell and he was regaling them with stories.

Really? The last I heard of him was a story on his drug-addled insanity when he was arrested a couple of months ago. Maybe the brush with the law set ol' Glen on the straight & narrow.

Ann, that's a ferret.

I don't know what the stories were, but I'm told they were very entertaining.

Well, he's had quite a life. Including quite a career. I'm sure Pet Sounds alone could generate an hour or two.

FWIW my fave is Ghost of Fashion - but I've only heard one other.

I just got copies of the new Stereolab and the Cold Mountain soundtrack at the same time. I dunno which to listen to first. I can't tell what I'm in the mood for....dilemmas, dilemmas.

I hear that the new Stereolab is a return to form, Emperor Tomato Ketchup-style.

Mine too, and I've heard 'em all.

I like the new Stereolab. There's some Old School Rockin' Stuff that makes the album more varied than their last few.

Heh. X-post, sorta.

I hear that the new Stereolab is a return to form, Emperor Tomato Ketchup-style.

I wouldn't go that far, but there's one or two tunes that fit that description.

That's what all the reviews say as well. I didn't buy it - just copied it. But I will buy it eventually I'm sure.

OK - I don't care how trendy it is - Jack White doing the faux bluegrass thing is MELTING me - guh. Uh, so I picked Cold Mountain. Really great first track - I promise not to give a track-by-track report - IJS it's a good first track.

Well, as long as the new Stereolab is better than the last two, I'll probably pick it up.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Is that the one that JZ kept playing in the car when I was out there? I would never have guessed it was by the Dixie Chicks.

That's the one.

I'd love to hear Glenn Campbell tell stories. Before his solo career, he was the first call guitarist on The Wrecking Crew - the LA studio musicians who played on literally thousands of hit records. As Fred Pete notes, he played on numerous Beach Boys records (and even went on tour with them). Would also love to talk to Jimmy Webb, a very interesting songwriter and producer.

Now thinking about Stereolab doing a Jimmy Webb album...
