Jennifer Hate Hewitt really, really needs to go away. Really.

Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
I was sorting through a box of unmarked VHS tapes yesterday and discovered a recording I'd made of Elliott Smith's appearance on the Oscars. Three thoughts:
- He looked absolutely terrified.
- The juxtaposition of him being followed immeditely by Celine was just bizarre
- What a horribly sad loss.

Agreed - but she can stick around if she is going to provide such great fodder for my evil mocking of her. Dear lord, why didn't someone say something to her?
The juxtaposition of him being followed immeditely by Celine was just bizarre
What a horribly sad loss.
I often see it called "the most surreal moment in Oscar history" which, if you think about it, is quite something. And before him was Trisha Yearwood right? And they were all on stage at the sametime....god he must have been freaked out.
Yeah - really really tragic especially when you read interviews with the people that were working with him at the time that he died that said he was the happiest, most productive he had ever been. And the fact that he was clean for the first time in a long time, no drugs were found in his system. Sad.
Alicia, has my mix arrived yet?
And before him was Trisha Yearwood right?
That sounds right. There was a third, but I couldn't remember her name.
And they were all on stage at the sametime
They each came out separately to do abbreviated versions of their songs, then all three came out together, held hands (with Elliott being the meat of the diva sandwich) and bowed.
....god he must have been freaked out.
Definitely.
Tina, I don't have your mix yet, but mail has been a little slow lately.
That was a very odd Oscar moment -- but I loved it...even though I knew that his chances of winning against the big sinking ship song were pretty darn slim.

This made me cringe then laugh out loud.
I don't remember seeing it - though I know I must have watched that night because I remember Ben and Matt winning the Oscar for the GWH screenplay. I wasn't a fan of Elliott yet.

Madonna, who presented the award, was funny. She opened the envelope and laughed, "What a surprise!"
