There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Steph, wasn't it completely Jossian? What with the "nemesiseeez" shout out, the whole character of the bad guy, AND the fear itself part?

I totally thought "nemesis...eeez" was ganked from the Jossverse! And the bad guy didn't seem Jossverse-y to me; he seemed like the Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons gone evil.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

What with the "nemesiseeez" shout out, the whole character of the bad guy, AND the fear itself part?

I'd noticed that myself. The whole ep did feel very Jossian. I'll be watching again.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Can anyone give me a good rundown on Elliot Smith? I promise it's work related.

Elliott Smith basics.

From Portland

Was in Heatmiser

Went solo in 94ish with Roman Candle

Big critical album is Either/Or.

Long history of drug and alcohol abuse.

Gus Van Sant chose his music as the soundtrack to Good Will Hunting, got nominated for an Oscar for Miss Misery. Lost to Celine Dion.

Last full studio album was Figure 8

Expected to release double album of work completed at time of his death sometime this year or next.

The investigation of his death is still officially open, but most people agree it was a suicide.

Need more or did you just want this?

etf: lots of spelling problems

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

It says on the site he's Dallas based and born in Omaha. Is that incorrect?

Up with the sun

The coroner's report on SmokingGun.com makes it look like the police think his girlfriend may either have done it or know something about it she isn't saying. But that may be the true crime buff in me talking.

From what I understand he was born in Omaha. I meant that he came out of the Portland music scene and he is usually referred to as a "Portland native."

My buddy Mark, the ultimate conspiracy theorist, is convinced that somehow Courtney Love did it....

Lyra Jane - did you get my mix yet? I'm getting worried...

Thanks again for formatting and putting up the liner notes.

Hrm. He just lived in Dallas for a while, or recorded here or what? See, I don't want to add him to the list if it's just one of those Dallas find-any-way-to-link-stuff-to-Big-D-we-can kind of thing, because it means I'll be wasting my time later.

Do you know anything about his time in Dallas? Thanks for the info. I'm afraid I'm coming off really badly this morning.
