Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Apple and Pepsi are once again giving away free songs on iTunes. One in three wins. I just bought my first two Pepsis for this contest and both were winners. Go me! And thanks to the Probability Gods.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Thank you bicyclops, DXM. Sue, P-C, Robin, Ginger, Victor, Hec (and his mysterious edit), Fred, Lyra, Kate and RIO!!!!!!!1!

I had an exhausting but awesome birthday. I hosted an all afternoon-into-the-early-evening party at Chez Theremin. Over forty people came though, including DX, Ellen and Nutty. FAQ Girl went above and beyond, helping out before, during and after the festivities.

In music news, I'm going to see Colin Meloy of the Decemberists tonight at TT's. He was supposed to play last month, but postposed due to the blizzard. Here's hoping he doesn't have to cancel tonight as well!

Up with the sun

Colin is utterly charming as a solo artist.

(Also? HE CAN'T PLAY "THE TAIN" ALONE, which makes the show that much more enjoyable for me. Nothing against the song -- it's probably as good as a 20-minute song cycle based on Irish mythology could possibly be -- but it sucks to go to a show and have a full third of it be ONE song.)

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

Speaking of, I love the new Decemberists album- I get 'The Mariner's Revenge' stuck in my head out of nowhere for hours at a time.

Heh. I've seen them four times now, and they've only done The Tain once. Which is exactly the right number of times to have seen it performed.

t edit And the new CD is indeed great. No real surprises, but I ain't tired of their shtick yet, so that's OK.

Up with the sun

The new album is out already? I thought I heard March.

I've seen them four times now, and they've only done The Tain once.

I've seen them three times, and they did it twice. Which is once too many.
