btw, tina, could you make out the lyrics to the "David Smay!" song?
Aren't they basically the same as the lyrics for "Amy Grant"? "He dreams of Barry...Barry White!"

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

CD shopping last night resulted in another album from a band I liked off of Jon's 2003 mix: The Minders Hooray for Tuesday
Yeah, that's a good one, especially the title track. Super nice folks too. They stayed at my house while they were touring a few years back.
Hey, I have a bootleg of Mr. Langford playing this very Ship & Pilot song on Jon's mix in Austin, but I never knew the name of the song. This version is more kickin', though, what with the drums & fiddle & such.
Glad you're liking it Hayden. That song, "Walking on Hell's Roof Looking at the Flowers" was originally on the Waco Brothers album "Electric Waco Chair". I haven't heard that version though.
Buck Naked and the Bare Bottom Boys
This sounds fun - do you suppose WalMart carries it?

I don't know. How do you think Wal-Mart would feel about a lyric that went: "It must be up your butt / because your pussy just ain't that tight"?
"It must be up your butt / because your pussy just ain't that tight"?
Well it sounds like they're saying that having a tight pussy is a good thing, in which case I think WalMart would find it wholesome. And the lyric also seems to comment on the negative aspects of orifice confusion, and I think Walmart would also support sending this message to the children of America.

Yes, because a tight pussy promotes Tradtional Family Values of male-female sex.
Ask Sonny Corleone.
I could make out the lyrics to "David Smay" - they were sweet and funny and it was really weird to hear a song about someone I "know" because I don't think that's ever happened before.
And I loove that you put that Detroit Cobras song on there - I love them and until I read your liner notes I totally missed that it was used in an Angel ep - a pretty blatant use too - not sure how I didn't notice.
Overall, the volume for your CD is low, though. I can't say why - but when I put it on my stereo at a volume setting that would be normally mind-numbingly loud even for a copied CD - it was just kinda loud. I ripped it to my hard drive and plan to mess with trying to amp it up a bit - but I haven't tried yet. The volume levels were even - they were just low. Didn't change my enjoyment level - just thought I'd let you know.
I was just VERY BAD at the CD store.
Bought:
New Pornographers, Mass Romantic (I have it, but only a copied version)
The Minders, The Future's Always Perfect (finally found it - and it's good to hear I am supporting nice people as well!)
Sleater-Kinney, Call the Doctor (believe it or not this is my first SK CD - I've been looking for it used for about two years)
Centro-Matic, Love You Just the Same (another off of Jon's mix, I downloaded this off of Emusic and I love it and felt the need to own it for real)
Had in My Hands but Did Not Buy:
that Dizzee Rascal CD - because people are swooning and foaming at the mouth about it
The Elected - ? can't remember the title - it's the Rilo Kiley side project I mentioned yesterday
the new Stereolab, SKOTS and Air CDs
I have a music buying PROB-LEM.
Hayden! Thank You! For the CD! I am listening to it! Right Now! And it's Great!
