Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Well it sounds like they're saying that having a tight pussy is a good thing, in which case I think WalMart would find it wholesome.

Yes, because a tight pussy promotes Tradtional Family Values of male-female sex.

Ask Sonny Corleone.

I could make out the lyrics to "David Smay" - they were sweet and funny and it was really weird to hear a song about someone I "know" because I don't think that's ever happened before.

And I loove that you put that Detroit Cobras song on there - I love them and until I read your liner notes I totally missed that it was used in an Angel ep - a pretty blatant use too - not sure how I didn't notice.

Overall, the volume for your CD is low, though. I can't say why - but when I put it on my stereo at a volume setting that would be normally mind-numbingly loud even for a copied CD - it was just kinda loud. I ripped it to my hard drive and plan to mess with trying to amp it up a bit - but I haven't tried yet. The volume levels were even - they were just low. Didn't change my enjoyment level - just thought I'd let you know.

I was just VERY BAD at the CD store.

Bought:
New Pornographers, Mass Romantic (I have it, but only a copied version)
The Minders, The Future's Always Perfect (finally found it - and it's good to hear I am supporting nice people as well!)
Sleater-Kinney, Call the Doctor (believe it or not this is my first SK CD - I've been looking for it used for about two years)
Centro-Matic, Love You Just the Same (another off of Jon's mix, I downloaded this off of Emusic and I love it and felt the need to own it for real)

Had in My Hands but Did Not Buy:
that Dizzee Rascal CD - because people are swooning and foaming at the mouth about it
The Elected - ? can't remember the title - it's the Rilo Kiley side project I mentioned yesterday
the new Stereolab, SKOTS and Air CDs

I have a music buying PROB-LEM.

A fellow makes himself conspicuous when he throws soft-boiled eggs at the electric fan.

Hayden! Thank You! For the CD! I am listening to it! Right Now! And it's Great!

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

Erin! I hope you like it!

That song, "Walking on Hell's Roof Looking at the Flowers" was originally on the Waco Brothers album "Electric Waco Chair".

See, I don't have that one. Y'know, I love Jon Langford as much as the next stark-ravingly mad fanatic, but I've just never rounded my Waco Bros collection out much. And then I show my ignorance to the world on a message board.

I have a music buying PROB-LEM.

I prefer to see it in myself as more of a condition or personality quirk than a problem.

Because of the book, I've saved all my music-buying receipts and will be claiming it as an expense on my taxes. I'm actually a little afraid to see how much money I spent on the music this year.

OMG. I never ever ever EVER want to see this number as it pertains to myself. I would officially have to take away my own license to be an adult considered smart enough to exist independently of others.

Still - very cool with the taxes - that should save you a lot. Dear lord I need to hook myself up with some get-music-for-free scheme - it really would save me - well enough to probably buy a car or something.

The coolest thing about having "musician" as a side business is that all CDs are tax deductable.

Indie music nerds! You have let me down.

Why - with all my constant talking about Sam Beam (Iron and Wine) and Modest Mouse - has no one ever mentioned this to me??

It came out in Oct. on Suicide Squeeze - I just bought it. Uh-huh. I spent MORE money on music.

does the crazy dance of being in denial about her financial situation

Yeah, I hear that "sharing your art" thing is TOTALLY overrated ; )
