Roguish Laird

Not to mention Stockhausen, or Dean Elliot's (fifties) wacky lounge orchestrations

Well strictly speaking they weren't "sampled" as such but yeah.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

"Half Jack" and "Missed Me" don't do as much for me, and "672" doesn't really count.

"Missed Me" is one of the best "scary, insane-o chick" songs ever. Admitadely, not a large genre that I'm aware of (at least, deliberate "scary, insane-o chick" songs). Until I paid close attention to the lyrics, I hadn't realized how scary.

Up with the sun

So U2 has announced their first batch of tour dates, and there isn't a D.C. or Baltimore concert. The rumors are that it'll probably be part of another leg of the tour this fall.

But they are playing Philadelphia, which is a two hour drive, in May.

I'm sorely tempted to buy tickets for that show, and sell them if the D.C. date is announced before the Philadelphia show. Or, you know, I could just see them twice.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Oh yeah, that happened to me too. Her lyrics are awesome. I've begun to like it more recently. The best parts of "Half Jack" are the beginning and end.

missed me, missed me, now you got to kiss me
if you kiss me, mister, you must think i'm pretty
if you think so, mister, you must want to fuck me
if you fuck me, mister, it must mean you love me
if you love me, mister, you would never leave me
it's as simple as can be

Uncertainty could be our guiding light.

Yeah, Lyra, the U2 schedule is weird. It's like a tour of the blue states. Which isn't intentional, I'm sure, but kind of funny. I can say that because they're coming to my blue state.

I'm going with the general admission tickets, because I've heard that's the way to go; the setup for this tour is supposed to be similar to the Elevation tour, with the second stage jutting out onto the floor. The expensive tickets? Not so great.

The whole pre-sale thing through U2.com is an insane mess, and online U2 fans are freaking the hell out. I've decided to save myself the annoyance and stress, and just buy a GA ticket. I'll get in line when I get there, and I'm okay with being at the back of the floor. As long as I'm there, I don't care.

Hey, Kate! CDs are on their way to you as of Saturday!

Sweet! Thanks, Alicia. Does anyone have a link to the U2 tour schedule? I can never afford to go, but I like to look anyway.

I hear that there's a third leg, in the fall with more NA dates.

And on U2log, there was a post saying that the leaked schedule, before the delay in announcing, had a lot more dates on it.

Uncertainty could be our guiding light.

For Kate:

Tour schedule

Yeah, the leaked schedule had two Seattle dates. But there's a lot of gaps between the dates that are there now. I don't know how easy it would be to add more cities to this leg, but it seems like they might add second dates to cities that sell out quickly.

Go, Seattle! Gimme a second show! I have enough $$ for two GA tickets!

Thanks for the links. $49.50 for general admission? That's way less than I would have expected. Hmm...
