Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Low's Christmas album is particularly good, IMO. I'm fond of Yo La Tengo's short Xmas EP, too, if you can find a copy.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Low's Xmas album is my favorite Low album.

You can hear clips from the YLT Xmas EP here: [link]

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

From David's post in Press:

Last night Knut and I went to see Kelly Hogan at The Hideout. We had a blast. Fun! Yay!

SO jealous! Of both the hanging-out-with-Knut and the seeing-Kelly-Hogan. What songs did she do?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

What songs did she do?

Really cool set of mostly lesser known jazz vocals, peppered with country, rockabilly and old R&B pop. Did things like "Moody's Mood For Love" and "Red Top" - which folks who have my jazz vocal tapes might know.

Tonight we see Kelly, Jon Langford, Robbie Fulks and many more at Heather McAdams Country Calendar Party! Sweeeeet! Also they will be showing old 16mm film clips of old country folks like Ray Price and Marty Robbins. So fun!

Also? Madrigal's coming

Y'all know there are a number of Glam Rock Xmas songs, my favorite being by Mud.

If I only had a brain...

Give Madrigal my respect and missage.

Damn, you lucky SOB. If it's not too late, pass along my howdys to both Knut & Madrigal. And Jonboy.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

Dude. I lived there for three months, and you get to see more Buffistae than I.

Is it worth watching the Wilco movie DVD with the commentary track?
