A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Is it worth watching the Wilco movie DVD with the commentary track?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

How's that Polyphonic Spree xmas song, SA? I'll presume you like it since you put it on the mix.

Damn, you lucky SOB.

Plus I had a long brunch with Rio this morning.

If it's not too late, pass along my howdys to both Knut & Madrigal. And Jonboy.

Too late for Jonboy, since we saw him last night. The show was great good fun, and excellent music. Mr. Mekon did a Marty Robbins set including "Big Iron On His Hip." Kelly Hogan kicked in with backing vocals on just about everybody, and did a Ray Price set (perfect for her since his stuff is a mix of country and big city jazz/torch. Excellent version of "For the Good Times" which she dedicated to one of her neighbors when she was growing up). Robbie and Donna Fulks did some gorgeous two-part close harmonies. Anna Fermin had a gorgeous voice, which was necessary for her Dolly Parton set. You know what rocks? Being in a packed club while everybody is singing along to "Jolene."

Really fun clips of old country music shows with Ray Price, Tennessee Ernie Ford (doing a fantastically lewd "Shotgun Boogie"), Carl Smith (June Carter's ex, Carlene's dad. Miriam made the immortal observation that Carl's wavy quiff was so lopsided that "It looks like somebody punched him in the hair.") and Marty Robbins.

We all had a very very fun and funny dinner beforehand. Knut and Madrigal and Rio will be coming tonight so I'll share the halloos.

It's...interesting. Rather like the PS themselves. I'm not completely sure how I feel about them yet, but I'm trying them out in different ways.

I'm glad you had fun last night.

I can't even tell you. The show was excellent, but the company was stellar. The conversation around the dinner table was like a really good night in Natter - so funny.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Are you all aware that Bowie's Lady Stardust was actually written about Marc Bolan?

"The Jean Genie" was about Iggy Pop.

Queen Bitch is about Lou Reed, too.

...and (coming in late) "Rebel Rebel" is about the New York Dolls.

Are you home for the holidays? Or are you still in Wales?
