Host ,'Why We Fight'
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

I had the singer living alone, the baffled king (which was always such beautiful phrasing to me), and the holy ghost, not the holy dove.
I don't particularly like the Cohen version either, as it's too theatrical for me. I love Cohen normally, but that song just doesn't cut it. I think Hallelujah simultaneously changed my perspective on music, made me a huge Buckley fan, and forced me to listen to lyrics really really hard, all in one go.
Nope, no italics tag on my end.
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, halle... It’s not what you’re told It’s not her face It’s not his touch In the room you both share Where he’s gone when he loved When your time and your memory fills your dreams When you’re honest and together Together no more No more Hallelujah, until you’re nothing Hallelujah, baby, until she’s everywhere Hallelujah, until together you are somewhere I’d lost Hallelujah, hallelujah
This is from the live version, right? It doesn't seem to be on the one from "Grace," which I have on my iPod.
FWIW, John Cale largely sings the Buckley lyrics.

Um, actually...
I fixed the open italics tag in SA's original post.

Dunno, I pulled it off a lyrics site.

Well, I didn't see it. Thanks.

It was displaying OK on IE, but not on Firefox.
It's "I used to live alone," "the baffled king" and "holy dove."
Yes. And those lyrics are almost certainly from a different Jeff version, because the recording on "Grace" does not have that final verse.
Hey, back from Thanksgiving in Alabama. Just heard the Talk of the Nation interview: kick ass! Even if the callers were a bit lame (seriously, is Forever Changes a lost album by anyone's standards?). Anyway, nice job. And hi, Tina!
