You don't sing along with "Man it's so Loud in Here" from Mink Car? Or "Spiraling Shape" from Factory Showroom? I can't listen to those an NOT sing.
Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
...make you listen to Whitesnake albums until your ears bleed.
Hey!
Whitesnake were a decent band in the late seventies.
Of course, they went crap by the eighties but by then it was more of a Coverdale solo project again.

"Don't spend the rest of youuur life wooooonderiiiiing!" Exactly. "Drink!" is a total arm-'round-your-buddy, pint-in-the-other-fist, sway-and-drink tune. Almost all of "No!" is made for singing, and the younger-audience lyrics just make it more fun. "Yeh Yeh," "Damn Good Times," "Till My Head Falls Off"--all songs that make you want to memorize the lyrics as fast as possible and get into it full-volume.
I think the last one was Gary Lewis and The Playboys at a packed house in Detroit Lakes, MN.
Mmmmm. Gary Lewis and the Playboys.... One of the few acts that have been among my favorites for 30 years or more....
Speaking of songs that make me sing, thanks for the introduction to The Decemberists. I've had "July, July" stuck in my head all day. I must head back to iTunes and download more.
Singalongable songs from the past 5 TMGB albums:
- "In the Middle, in the Middle, in the Middle"
- "John Lee Supertaster"
- "Another First Kiss"
- "Bangs"
- "Older"
- "Man It's So Loud in Here"
- "Your Own Worst Enemy"
- "James K. Polk"
Does John Henry count? 'Cos there's a few on there.
John Henry was the fifth of ten, so no. But yeah, that one's just littered with singables. I also submit "Cyclops Rock," "Experimental Film," and "The Bells Are Ringing" from the second half of the discography so far.
Yeah, I don't even like "Cyclops Rock" but it gets stuck in my head.
Of Montreal was fucking awesome.
I dare you to name one other band who, in the middle of the show, stages a chaotic Battle for a Donut: the band members fight each other, take each other's shoes off, hit each other with various instruments, chase each other on and off the stage, worship the Donut, praise the Donut, display the Donut on a soft purple pillow.
IN SLOW-MOTION.
Heh - I was overly contentious with the TMBG challenge, but the unified front of fandom stirred the iconoclast in me. Also, I just wanted to see what folks really liked of recent vintage 'cuz I've thrown a few TMBG projects back that were trumpeted. But I'm willing to investigate again.
Out of the last five, what's the convincer? What's their best recent?
