Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
You're not going to have room for all the cool blurbers you're getting!
Nick Cave and Paul Westerberg film news:
By Bec Smith GOLD COAST, Queensland (Hollywood Reporter) - British-born actor Guy Pearce, the star of thriller "Memento", will play the lead in "The Proposition", a historical drama written by rock star Nick Cave.
The film, set in the early 19th century, is "an epic Australian story about family, loyalty and betrayal ... a sort of gothic Western that is to Australia what 'Unforgiven' was to America," said producer Chris Brown.
While he could not confirm further cast hirings, Brown said there was likely to be at least one major British actor attached. Shooting will begin in Australia in six weeks, with John Hillcoat directing.
Pearce's credits also include "Two Brothers", "L.A. Confidential" and "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert".
Hillcoat's other credits include "To Have and to Hold". He also has collaborated with Cave on various projects, including the 1988 film "Ghosts ... of the Civil Dead."
As for Mr Westerberg:
In the year between finishing his new album and its anticipated release next month, Paul Westerberg has shifted his focus to film. He has been working on songs for a Sony Pictures Animation project that he also expects to score.
"I can't talk too much about it," Westerberg tells Billboard.com. "It's just a matter of writing songs for this animated feature called 'Open Season.' It's not slated to be out until, oh I don't know, like 2006 or something. It's way in the future."
CNN has an interview with Robert Smith.
Is it just me, or in the second picture (in the middle of the article) does Robert Smith look like shite?
No, it's not just you.
He looks like he pancaked on the makeup and spent a day in the sauna.
I think Robert is getting a wee bit long in the tooth to be dressing like that. It was fine when he was in his mid-twenties and it was the eighties but now, nsm.
Um, can I duck in and ask a showtunes question?
I seem to remember a version of "Zip" from Pal Joey at oh, about double the speed of every single version I can find. Anyone have any idea what I could be remembering? The version I remember seems to end "I'm a broad with a broad, broad mind," which might not be in the original lyrics.
This is, of course, driving me Cah-ra-zy.

A greatest hits compilation, aptly titled Hits, remains available, and features selections from the group's first two albums and numerous singles.
I did not know this. I'll have to find a copy. Is "Crazy" on this?
