There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I see. Thank you.

But I got some bootlegs from Tina last year that captured the reckless, wasted glory as well as The Shit Hits The Fans, and some of those I could only listen to a couple of times as well.

Silly - you sent me that bootleg. The Metro show from 86? Full of reckless, wasted glory it is.

Just last night I was trying to remember what the mats song in Say Anything is - the one that plays as he is leaving his sister's apartment to get on the plane just as the movie is ending. Anyone know what it was off the top of their head? If I don't have that somewhere, I need to buy it.

I am getting the Fiery Furnaces today because of all the squeeing here about it. I need a new CD and am uninspired about everything else out right now.

Art Crawl!!!

I was at that show!

With friends of friends from Mpls who were amazed at how sober and professional the 'Mats were in Chicago.

"Why do the facts hate America?" - Jon Stewart

"Within Your Reach"

You should just buy "Hootenanny" - besides this song it also contains the wonderful "Color Me Impressed"

I knew that topless lady had something up her sleeve. - John Prine

I was trying to remember what the mats song in Say Anything is

"Within Your Reach" is the only one listed on the soundtrack so I'll go out on a limb & guess that. But I don't really remember.

Thanks cathy and joe! - I guess I could have googled for that myself, sorry.

I have Hootenanny. It must have been forever since I listened to it to forget. I loooove the guitar at the beginning of that song. Imma listen to it right now. Yay Replacements love!

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I am getting the Fiery Furnaces today because of all the squeeing here about it.

Just Hayden and me. A pair of squees.

Just Hayden and me. A pair of squees.

Yes, but a very enthusiastic and trustworthy pair of squees.

I didn't realize it was released today. I went to get it yesterday and managed to leave the CD store with no unplanned purchases. Go me!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

"Within Your Reach" is one of my favorite 'mats songs. Just beautiful. Also love "Treatment Bound."

"Within Your Reach" is one of my favorite 'mats songs.

On the DVD commentary for Say Anything Cameron Crowe mentions that he had never heard the Replacements until Cusack introduced him to them while they were filming. That was kind of hard to believe (it was filmed in 88, I believe). As with all of Crowe's film commentaries it has lots of good little rock trivia bits in it. (The commentary was recorded in 2003 I believe and has Cusack, Skye and Crowe reunited for the first time since they did the film). Like the fact that they had a bunch of songwriters try to write a song to fit the famous "holding up the boombox" scene and finally Nancy Wilson reminded Crowe that "In Your Eyes" was one of their wedding songs and was perfect for the scene. You can tell from his silence that Cusack hates the song, but whatev.
