Two bands I've had suggested to me lately: Franz Ferdinand and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Any thoughts on them, before I give mine?
Mal ,'Ariel'
Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs are good.
Blur crushes Pulp like a teeny weeny Republican meanie
You get that I'm just not dignifying this ludicrous evidence of impending mental collapse with a response, right?
Franz Ferdinand and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
I love FF, but the people who call them a note-for-note retread of 1981 artpop with none of the ideas are completely right. The YYYs are...OK. they're a safe fashionista version of a Riot Grrl band.
I like FF too. They're like a more poppy "Fire Engines" (i.e. What Jim Said).
Franz Ferdinand and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are both competent at what they do, and I should really give the YYYs another listen.
Okay, am I the only person in the world who gets all happy when Usher's "Yeah" comes on the radio?
Not at all, it's a fantastic single. As far as chart singles are concerned, for me it's up there with Britney's Toxic and Twista's Slow Jamz for top honours of the year so far.
Angus, mwah. How have I not heard this Usher song?
See, if it wasn't for Buffistas I'd never know about pop radio hits.
Albums I've heard of for years and only heard today (an occasoinal series): Talk Talk's Spirit of Eden. It's awesome.
I'd back the Spirt of Eden love.
