You should watch "What's My Line" - did you see that our wedding cake had the monkey pants quote on it? Which, in retrospect is about as geeky as wearing Klingon ears during your ceremony, but was really kind of a tossed off whim that cheered me up when the pastry chef was so gung-ho about doing it.

The monkey pants quote made everyone at the wedding giggle like gleeful small children. It was a thing of beauty.

The cover of this week's New Yorker has an illustration of Ray Charles on the $10 bill. I think that's the best idea ever.

And, since Jon is too modest by proxy to mention it, I'm sure, I have to say that Clem Snide's cover of "I'll Be Your Mirror" is my definition of the word "plaintive" right now, and I mean that in a GOOD way.

Sasha Frere-Jones's current NYer column is about the songs of summer, so far this year. Ch-ch-check it out. My big summer beat, as you might guess from the sentence just before this one, is the new Beasties CD, especially "An Open Letter to NYC." Dude, any song that namechecks everything from Hollis to the Blimpies on Montague Street (ah, my lost youth) would be OK by me, but this love letter to the five boroughs from a bunch of native sons hits my happy about six ways from Sunday.

And speaking of happy, the Reindeer Section's "You Are My Joy" just came up on iTunes, and this song's like a ray of sunshine as well. '

ETA: One more -- Deathray Davies's "She Can Play Me Like A Drum Machine." Definite chairdance material.

P'shaw. Don't be so sure. I like Clem Snide lots, but there's stuff of theirs that makes me yawn. The cover of "Mirror", however, is definitely not a yawner. The Aguillera cover is quite good too. Oh, there's a new album in the can but I haven't heard it yet. I believe it's out in the fall.

I am a sad panda because Pete & Anna of The Pee Wee Fist are moving to NYC at the end of this month. We've got two Boston gigs in July, but after that, no one knows what will become of the current TPWF lineup. :(
