Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

I feel stupid for asking, but who?

Public Image Ltd. The album's called Second Edition over here, and it's essential, easily one of the best albums ever made

Congrats, hayden!

(more pseudo-hip-hop dancing)

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Public Image Ltd is noted for its lead singer, John Lydon, aka Johnny Rotten.

edit 'cuz I can spell "Johnny"

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Okay, yes, I'd never heard of them at all.

Oh, I've heard of Johnny Rotten.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Okay, yes, I'd never heard of them at all.

No "Death Disco"? No, "Anger is an energy!" No deep bassy dub rumblings bolstering rantings? No Keith Levene guitar reverb (from which The Edge stole a goodly portion of his schtick)?

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

No deep bassy dub rumblings bolstering rantings?

Oh, this was after the Sex Pistols. See, I've heard of the Sex Pistols.

You're going to have to stop being surprised when I don't know things before, say, 1990.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

My first year in NYC (1989/90) I went to a PiL concert alone (at the Palladium RIP). I was scared, of course, coming downtown by myself on the subway. I wore my combat boots and necklace out of bullets. I was at teh stage as was my want back in those days and had to fight all night to keep my space an not get pulled into the pit or get smushed. Johnny harrassed the crowd all night and finally just left the stage and heckeled us from off stage saying we were not loud and cool enough for him. I was loving the show, but I was so over him by the end of teh night.

I bought a t-shirt with day glo PiL logos all over it, but I think that has disappeared long ago. I was soaking wet by the time I left and I remember someone tried to talk to me on the subway back home. I had no idea what to do to make them go away so I growled. it worked.

oh lord, so long ago. sweet little baby msbelle.
