What's that web site that has tons of info on any band you look up?
(I have the bookmark on my iBook, which is at home.)
All the Reagan-Punk nostalgia has made me search for info on The Urban Guerillas, a Minneapolis punk band of the mid-late '80s. There is an Australian band of the same name which dominates my googling.
Hell, I'm always nostalgic for anti-Reagan rock. I was playing Reagan Youth the other night (although not for long - I just don't have the tolerance for hardcore anymore).
I am drowning in mix CDs!
Thanks Hec, I got the giant package o' CDs. My postal carrier was even excited about it.
So.many.new.mixes. I am listening to Kate's mix AIFG. (How did I forget that you put Charlene's "I've Never Been to Me" on there? That is the first song I ever learned all the lyrics to. I think I was four or so. I hadn't heard it in probably 20 years and I still got every word right.)
Thanks, Jon.
Sadly, no luck there on The Urban Guerillas.
It's so hard to find info on obscure bands that predate the internet.
edit:
"I've Never Been to Me"
I. Fucking. Hate. That. Song.
But mostly because of associations with my high-school girlfriend.

What a way to go though, huh? And fortunately you've got the time to enjoy them now.

Oops. Sorry, tommyrot. I adore it in all its cheesy glory, but that's mostly because I associate it with
The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
Glad you're enjoying the mix, tina!
Woo hoo! A website on whistling records! Including (right here) a link to Brother Bones doing "Sweet Georgia Brown" (Harlem Globetrotters theme). Downloadable.
The Urban Guerillas.
tommyrot, what precisely are you looking for? Just basic info, or recordings? Basic info might be found through First Avenue, but you'd have to call and ask to talk to someone who was around then (of which there are many).
If you're looking for recordings, I can go comb through the local used record stores.

Well, for starters, a discography.

That'd be cool. A friend of mine has all of their recordings on LP, so I'd like CDs. If they exist.
I don't remember too well what song's on what, but their album titled, um, "Attack of the Pink Heat-Seeking Moisture Missles" comes to mind.
...maybe I shouldn't have followed that album title with the word "comes"...
Anyway, any help would be appreciated....
