Dawn: I thought you were adequate. Giles: And the accolades keep pouring in. I'd best take my leave before my head swells any larger. Good night.

Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

The term comes from the mishearing "Lady Mondegreen" for "laid him on the green."

How was Calexico, Jon?

I've got two of their discs, both of which I love, and I noticed they seem to get to town semi-regularly.

Heh. Thinking back, I may have heard them for the first time on your show.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

How was Calexico, Jon?

See them. At your earliest convenience. I've seen them many times -- they never disappoint and are often transcendent.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

I second that recommendation. Calexico never fails to be fascinating.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I know EFO! I used to work for a small music management company that handled their merch.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Rock! I'm glad they're at least somewhat known. Now I just have to make fans out of you.

My reactions to various commercial co-options...

My favourite of these was an Australian airline (now defunct) that used The Who's "My Generation" as a theme tune. Dudes, you're an airline. You're using a song that includes the lyrics "I hope I die before I get old." Think about it.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

It's a full service airline.

Is it any weirder really than a cruise line using "Lust for Life"?
