Now hold on, I'm gonna press the right pedal harder. I expect us to accelerate.

Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Would also make a good Yo La Tengo song title.

Or The Lothars. ijs

I need to share the following exchange from the wedding:

Me: Alex, I want to introduce you to Jon. He's a theremin player in a couple bands, The Pee Wee Fist and The Lothars...

Alex [my best man]: No way! I love The Lothars - they're one of my favorite new bands.

It was all highly unlikely, though Alex does listen to a lot of stuff like Sigur Ros which has a similarly experimental/psych/trippy feel.

I'm going to "Homebody/Kabul" at BAM tonight. Upstate with the Sorels for the weekend. Should be back Monday & may be getting together with Nathaniel, so I may be on your block. Would be delighted to see you.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

I'm going to "Homebody/Kabul" at BAM tonight.

*Seriously*?? I really really REALLY want to see it. Jealous now.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I need to share the following exchange from the wedding:

That was pretty cool. Except that it happened nothing like how you describe it. Alex was wearing a Bardo Pond shirt at Emmett's baseball game. I mentioned that I'd played with them; he asked what band I was in; yadda yadda yadda; we bonded.

If you were here it's even money (probably more like 1 to 3 actually) that you could buy my GF's ticket. She wants to see it but it's a) 4 hours long b) she's been up since 6 (teacher) and c) she didn't go to bed until around 1 last night. It's ending this weekend, but Trudy & I have tentative plans to go see this if you'd like to join us. You know you want to visit NY in the next couple weeks. I'll even buy your ticket. To the play, that is. Airfare's on you. Now I'm really leaving. Enjoy the long weekend everybody!

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

I really dig Sigur Ros. The whole Vanilla Sky soundtrack has their essentially experimental feel, and I'm fond of it.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Some website (I think it's Sigur Ros's own site) has a bunch of their mp3s available for free download. And yes, they are great.

I'm willing to sacrifice the truth to make you look cool.

A fellow makes himself conspicuous when he throws soft-boiled eggs at the electric fan.

Teppy, you have broadband at home, right? Check out some of the mp3 blogs, like soul sides and music.for-robots.com and 3hive ...

I haven't been here in ages and just realized that I was in New Orleans when Hec and JZ were there! Damn! Not that they really would want a mini f2f on their HONEYMOON, but still ...

I am so in love with a country-western cover of Snoop's "Gin and Juice" by a band called The Gourds. Has anyone else heard it?

Are you shitting me? Of course we'd want to see you. It's not like we didn't have plenty of alone time down there. How fun would it have been to go poking through the bookstores with you? We found a shop in the Quarter with antique prints and JZ bought a Cruikshank print (not from Dickens though) that looked very proto-Gorey.

JZ just popped in over my shoulder groaning that we missed you.
