Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Uncertainty could be our guiding light.

Non sequiter (sequitor?) time!

You know what song I really love? "Overjoyed" by Stevie Wonder. That is all. Carry on!

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

There's a place here that taxidermies mice and puts them in little costumes

Also known as "That place Jilli is going to spend a lot of money at".

Other Bay-ista bands: Christian Death, Faith and the Muse, Switchblade Symphony, and Malign.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Package arrived! Hayden and the USPS are both off the hook. I'll try to turn these over quick, tina.

I have no particular hate on for "We Built This City". In fact, I think it's cute. There are certainly a HELL of a lot of songs I would put above it for "worst song ever". A LOT.

No worries sir. I am off for the next five days exploring the woods of central Missouri (translation: sitting in lawn chair in cheap off-the-highway campsite drinking too much Miller product).

I am making two mixes for the trip as I type. One is "spunky" - I have named it Shaken. One is "mellow" - it shall be called Stirred. They have many many songs from Buffista mixes sent to me thus far. I and my fellow campers send thanks.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

And I gave a vampire mouse to SA two Xmases ago (?) for the Buffista swap!

I love that mouse so much, but it freaked my friends out sooooooo much. I had to put it in my trunk, though, because it was in danger of getting damaged, and then we got a cat. Which would be bad.

Punishingly Intricate

"We Built This City"

Is inexorably linked in my memory with working slooooooooooooow Sunday afternoons at Dunkin' Donuts back in high school. I hear it and get kind of nauseous (too much sugar, relentless coffee, and slightly off creamer smells) and really, really, really bored.

I'm going to see Sleater-Kinney tonight (for free, yay, here's to knowing people and stuff). This band Thermal from Portland, I think, are opening. Anybody know them?

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

The Thermals. On Sub Pop. They do one song I like that sounds kinda like GBV. The other stuff is more rock/less pop, but I can't remember for sure.

That's promising.

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

Game Theory are reuniting for the book? I feel special by association.

"We Built This City" rated as worst song ever.

Another Buffista who doesn't, I don't think, frequent this thread, took that list and made an iPod playlist of it to listen to during the day. I was so pleased to know that.
