There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

...got rained on with his own .38.

Also hayden - I found a copy of a Knife in the Water four-track single yesterday - Crossposs Bells - I remembered them from you mentioning seeing them at SXSW and from your 2003 mix. Like them a lot.

Cool! I'm doing an interview with them for the next High Hat. Crosspross Bells is the only one I don't have, but I think I'm going to pick it up this weekend.

Jon, glad to provide the NMH discs. Tina, I've burned one for you, but haven't managed to send it out yet.

Speaking of that, I'm behind with sending the four (count 'em: 4) round robin discs at my house, mainly because Meara's is in my wife's car, which has been in the shop this week, as one of her delightful co-workers hit-and-ran her car in the garage at work and tore off her bumper. The car should be ready tomorrow, and I'll send the discs to David forthwith.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Joe, I am going to LL on Friday. I hate Fez too, but what can you do? They are at least now offering guaranteed seating at some shows.

I'll email you later about the auction.

Uncertainty could be our guiding light.

Thanks to a recent deal* through BMG, I just received the following:

Shelby Lynne "Identity Crisis"

Sigur Ros "( )"

Aimee Mann "Lost in Space"

Wilco "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot"

* and when I say deal, I realize that my 3 "free" CDs cost me $3 for shipping each, but I still averaged out about $6.50 a disc, so yay!

A fellow makes himself conspicuous when he throws soft-boiled eggs at the electric fan.

I think I'm going to trade in some of the CDs that are creating a hazard in my office and that are unlistened-to (Screaming Trees Box Set, I'ma lookin' at you). What should I expect to get as trade-in value? Any ideas? I don't want a ton of money, I just want to reclaim a shelf. Or possibly two.

I got my lj cd_swap cds yesterday, and I was tickled to see some songs that Tina pimped to me MONTHS ago. I'm not as out of it as I thought I was. WHAT the folks who got my CD are going to think, I dunno ...

Up with the sun

erinaceous, did you get my CD? I haven't seen anyone post about getting it as a swap yet.

Depends on the store and the CDs, really. I think last time we traded stuff in we brought in over 20 CDs and were offered $75 in store credit or $50 in cash. And two of those CDs were still shrink-wrapped, because they had been gifts that duplicated stuff we already owned.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Screaming Trees Box Set

There's a box set? What's in it?

Lyra, no, I didn't get your mix (I was hoping I would). Did you get mine? Thanks for the ballpark for the CD trade-ins, too ...

Jon, the ST box set is EVERYTHING. I'm pretty sure. I'm not near it now or I'd post the list. It was a bit of overkill, considering all I wanted was "Cold Rain."

I knew that topless lady had something up her sleeve. - John Prine

Erin, are you aware of this? There was a preview the other day & it was fun. JF's Guilty Pleasure: "Crazy In Love". His Hidden Treasure: "Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye" by Sammy Davis Jr. (My favorite Cole Porter song. Had never heard the Sammy version.) Matt Stone, of South Park fame, Guilty Pleasure: "Poison" by Bell Biv Devoe. (JF: "My wife makes me change the station whenever that comes on.") His Hidden Treasure: "Since I Fell for You", Mel Tormé.

I had heard that it was going to be aired, but hadn't listened to it -- I'll have to hijack it.

I LOVE that Mel Torme version; that's one of my favorite songs, evah. And I'm glad that I'm not the only one who was obsessed by "Crazy In Love ..."

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

More potential book jacket blurb:

Mike Watt of the Minutemen (and recently the Stooges!) would be happy to read and comment on Lost in the Grooves.
