Life is quite mad, SA. But mostly in good ways. Plus, am (six weeks in!) being very good at work, and not reading B.org. Which is sad, but probably for the best.
And, (on topic) I'm downloading music from iTunes these days--my boss and coworkers are all giving me their free songs from Pepsi, which is fun. But a few of the songs I've really wanted, they haven't had. Hmph.

I got more new CDs on half.com and Amazon last night. (I'm on a Must Diversify! Now! trip.) The CDs I bought were:
- "It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back," Public Enemy
- "Blacklisted," Neko Case
- "In Search Of...", N.E.R.D.
- "Three Feet High And Rising," De La Soul
- "Fragments From a Rainy Season," John Cale
- "Things Fall Apart," The Roots
- "Pleased to Meet Me," the Replacements (I had it on cassette, which I can't find anymore. I am slowly duplicating the good parts of my high school record collection on CD. The next purchase in this vein should be Sonic Youth's "Sister".)
Between that and an LJ mix trade I'm participating in, I expect to be in New! music! heaven! for quite a while.

"Fragments From a Rainy Season," John Cale
For some musicians (Neil Young is one), my rules are:
1. Live beats studio
2. Acoustic beats electric
3. Solo beats band
And those rules certainly work for me in this case. A bunch of Cale's best songs (and one of Cohen's) performed simply and minimally. I love this album.
YMMV - some people get bored with Cale's piano playing.
