Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

I've been sleeping with my baseball bat next to me, instead of under the bed. And I have NO idea where the Unspecified Dread came from.

Huh. I *just* started sleeping with a hammer on my nightstand. Been living alone for three years and the Unspecified Dread just kind of hit me too.

That's weird.

Ann, that's a ferret.

It's the world situation.

And to be semi-topical (because it's a line from a Sophie Ellis-Bextor song), when you're feeling kind of mixed-up, just remember it's a mixed-up world.

Probably more useful than a fanged stuffed bunny sleeping on your head. Sure, he's going to rule the world one day, but not a terribly useful weapon.

Huh. I've been having an attack of Unspecified Dread myself, lately. How odd.

You're not going crazy! You're going sane in a crazy world!

Up with the sun

I got the new N.E.R.D. album last night.

It's interesting, and has a much stronger Beatles/Stevie Wonder vibe than I had expected from hearing "Rock Star" and reading their reviews. I don't dislike it -- the Neptunes are clearly very good at what they do -- but it's much poppier and less angsty than what I normally listen to.

Good workout music, though.

(I also got Mary Lou Lord's Baby Blue, which I like.)
